THE BEER BARON (275) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 29, 2001
Pretty good IPA. It has a grapefruity taste to it. Zach Diesel (906) - Sisters, Oregon, USA - JAN 20, 2002
Good, but nothing real distinctive. Your pretty standard IPA. Tastes great at the key shop, in the new basement, or the back of a Honda. Dogbrick (12936) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 26, 2002
I’m not always a big fan of IPAs, but I could’t find much wrong with this. Great hops ratio and better coloring than your typical IPA. This and Samuel Smith’s are both IPAs that kind of transcend the norm. raindog (560) - Evansville, Indiana, USA - AUG 1, 2002
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2003 Rerate:Too generous first time. Bottle conditioned but you cant't tell except for the bubbles on the head. Pours highly carbonated but minimal, milky, lacey head. The head is quality but small. Aroma straight fruity, piney.Taste is very BITTER. There might be malts their but I can't tell.EXREMELY drinkable.Full flavored till the end but not a knockout. This beer is barely balanced. This will satisfy any hop craving. howie (549) - DeForest, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 5, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2005 A good answer to the question, ’What do hops taste like?’. Piney, grassy, citrusy, the aroma is the best part of this beer. Flavor is all hops without much else to get in the way. Will satisfy any hop craving.
Beloved Beer (278) - California, USA - AUG 15, 2002
pretty good ipa. although as it warmed it lost some of its kick. i think i prefer sierra nevada although not technically an IPA. cb (810) - Roeland Park, Kansas, USA - NOV 23, 2002
I wasn’t wildly impressed, I did like the citrusy nature (it’s definitely worthwhile to try) but there are better IPAs out there. rauchbier (3882) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JAN 10, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Hazy gold, poor head and moderate condition. First aroma was like opening a new pocket of hops followed by a grapefruity citrusness. Underlying caramel in the mouth gets clobbered by aggressive citrus hops and a harsh hop bitterness in the finish makes it a little unbalanced for me. Not in the league of the Dogfish Head IPA or Victory Hop Devil, but what is.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2005 Cloudy golden color. Thin head. Little lace. Big American-style-IPA aroma. Bitter finish is like sucking on grapefruit rind. It is a world better on tap at the brewpub than out of the bottles--much fresher, more vibrant and actually worth drinking. WabashMan (1024) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - MAR 3, 2003
This one starts out with a big hoppy aroma (very nice, a little citrus touch...kind of like a milder version of the Alpha King aroma) and dark golden color with decent white head. Flavor is mostly hoppy, but not overpoweringly so. Decent finish, though it could last a TAD longer to make this beer better. Overall, this is a nice, middle of the road IPA. It could use a little more depth to the flavor, though the aroma is very nice. If the taste of this beer was brought up to the aroma's level, it would be a very strong representative of IPAs.
