On tap at Wrigleyville brewpub. Poured a clear, dark orange color, with a healthy slightly off-white head that stuck around. Aroma has some earthy, pine, and citrus hops. Flavor has some citrus rind and a bit of malt in the background. Medium body with good carbonation and moderate bitterness. Dogbrick (13389) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. The beer is an orange-amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, citrus and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall. Dacrza (1008) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - SEP 8, 2012
glassware: la fin du Monde tulip...occasion: Labor Day relaxation...appearance: chunky, uneven white head settles over a soft orange body that clouds slightly--excellent lacing...aroma: citric strength with a peachlike overtone--pleasant and fragrant...palate: full-bodied, throaty IPA that holds its aftertaste long after the first taste...taste: strong, hop-driven crispness; within the genre, a "plus" in flavor...overall: a surprise six-pack in a summer case was a pleasant one; the IPA challenges by assaulting the teeth and throat equally; not an especially smooth beer, but good... drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2012

On tap at Goose Island Clybourn. Served in a sampler glass. Pours golden with a white head. A bit of lacing on the way down. Thin collar throughout. Nose carries some earth, pine, and citrus hops. Flavor has some citrus rind and a bit of malt in the background. Medium body with good carbonation and moderate bitterness. My favorite of the hoppy ales on at the time. There were too many choices available at the brewpub which made it hard to
choose just a couple. Eventually I settled on this as a starter. Rather than
trying to drink through the entire list at once I went for a handful that
represented what Goose Island can do.
Aroma / Appearance - The amber body sat idly with hints of
carbonation escaping from time to time. A clean ivory head accents the oak,
tangerines, and citrus aspects. Gentle and sessionable this does not try to
be everything and comes across perfectly.
Flavor / Palate - Caramel, almonds, and lemons tickle the
palate with fruity aspects. The dry bitter finish eases away slowly. Without
blasting the palate like sandpaper it leaves a mark. Clearly Goose Island’s
brewpub releases have not lost their touch.
Flight on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a deeper amber copper hue, healthy glow, faint haze, with a big cakey near tannish head that laces well and sticks around well. a firm copper fire, orange glow makes it a bit more striking than the 24th. Aromas are rich luscious orange ands tangerine, tropical fruit, grapefruit, biting rind oils firm with sweetness and bitterness battling. Touches of bready pale malts try their best, but this nose is all fruity hop melange. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied offering lots of oranges and tangerines, the name of the game. Touches of grapefruit, bitter florals, grass. Thinner body as orange and tangerine elements take over the middle, touches of pale and bready malts, but largely all fruit. Lighter bodied, pretty drinkable at 6.5. Finish shows a touch of crisp maltiness followed by lingering dryness, tons of oranges and mellow dry hops, earth, and firm fresh hopping. Pretty nice this. Overall, it’s a different beast than the 24th. deyholla (11902) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 11, 2012
