Flight on tap at the Clybourn brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep copper hue, darker with a gentle haze, gorgeous glow and frothy tannish head atop that cakes, laces ok. Aromas are a lively estery fruit quality, apple and banana mix with gentle bread dough, yeast, and spice. Pale malts, dry floral and earthy hops, with some oranges. Initial is medium bodied yet quite drinkable. Fruity mandarin oranges and bread up front, some dry floral and earth hops mingle and provide a counter. Yeastiness grows into the middle, healthy to strong fruity melange quality. Lots of orange, some apples and lemons, with dry bread, touches of yeasty life, fruit and dryness mingle. Really balanced well, offering some wonderful flavors beyond the nose (which was solid, but nothing that made me expect this). Touches of orange keep the presence, faint gumball, light sweetness and bread. Yum. Drew actually picked a winner for once.
[Tap] Amber pour complete with a soapy white head. Aroma is of sweet fruits, mild hops and yeast. The bitterness in the taste is more pronounced, with pine and earthy hops coming out. On tap at clybourn... Pours a darker amber copper hued color and topped with a thin to medium light off-white fluffy head... Big hops on the aroma with an assertive degree of floralness to go alongside a fruity Belgian yeast character... Flavors are a continuation of the same with a floral quality that pairs with a fruitiness from the yeast profile. Semi-sweet through the middle with a mildly bitter finish. Draft t cly, pours amber with foamy white head. Aroma has lots of fruity esters, banana, honeydew, white grape and pears with more earthy notes way back there. Lots of hop aromas in there too which are piney and citrus. Pleasant nose. On the tongue it’s quite bitter, loads of grapefruit and melons, rather floral hop flavor and spicy yeast profile that’s also a bit rustic and funky. I really can’t think of many bad things to say about it, it’s hoppy, has character, and finishes really dry and clean. I haven’t had a belgian beer like that at goose maybe ever. I just think it works well, a hoppy Belgian with lots of character. Haymarket does tons of hoppy Belgians but few have character like this does. You could really drink this all day since it’s so hoppy and dry. Hopefully this isn’t the last of these type of beers from goose.

Draft at Clybourn. Pours a deep and true red, persistent off white head that sticks on top. Nose is full of white pepper, quite fruity and some candy sugar notes. On tasting, lots of yeast spiciness, candy sweetness to balance the bitterness. Quite dry and austere overall. Draft... Really musky yeast aroma, nice balance... Taste doesn’t work too much yeast and an off hop finish
