bottle shared at goose island. pours plum red..aroma of tart blackberry vinaigrette, sugar, and tannins..awesome..flavor is more of the same with massive blackberry, oak, sparkling juice..sweet and sour are complementary in such a wonderful way dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 24, 2011
Huge thanks to Fear025. Bottle pours red with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of tart berries, oak, light caramel, and a touch of funk. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of vanilla, leather, and tons of lactic goodness. Overall, probably my favorite of the 3 sisters, and very well balanced. I only wish I had some more. suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - APR 22, 2011
I would have written this review ten minutes ago, but I was cleaning beer off of my entire kitchen. This thing looked like a volcano as soon as I cracked the crown. Lost over half the beer. Oh well, won’t waste money on a beer that is half gone before I even open it again. I know it’s a wild beer, but this one might be a bit more wild than it was supposed to be. Pours, after foaming, a cloudy rosy amber. No head, weird, and no lacing. Smells sour and citrusy. Not much in the way of blackberries. A little woody. Acetic and very, very dry. No fruit in the mouth. Taste kind of like a spoiled sekt. Carbonic nose and mouth. Thin and bubbly. Not the best. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - APR 4, 2011
2010 Bottle; Pour is slightly cloudy strawberry in color - Fizzy white head initially , but it does dissipate rather quickly, and simply rings this snifter in a mild way. Spices and blackberries on the nose, with a Belgian yeast note that isn’t quite Belgian, to me. I find the aroma to be the strong suit of this brew. On the tongue, there is a certain crispness from the carbonation that lingers through the finish. It is sweet, to be sure, and has a sour feel, but I suppose it isn’t what I want it to be. Blackberries, Strawberries, Oak, and a very slight spiciness rounds it out. bradner (91) - Oswego, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2011
2009 Vintage bottled August 14, 2009.
AROMA: Aroma of berries and wine.
APPEARANCE: Pours a cloudy reddish gold color with lots of soap like foam. Head is white with a red hue.
TASTE: First taste is tart berries and earthy, then quickly turns tart and finishes try with a woody taste.
PALATE: Crisp and lively, lots of carbonation here.
OVERALL: I’m a really big fan of this beer. In my opinion, it is the best of the three sisters. I still have one bottle of 2009 left and have yet to try the 2010. Can the "new" Goose Island keep up the quality? I hope so!

(22oz bottle courtesy of cosmicevan!). Pours hazy cranberry juice color with no real head and light carbonation. Aroma of cheap wine, ripe fruit and wood. Taste is both tart and sweet. This beer has more funk than the other sisters. Medium bodied with a dry finish. The wine is very prominent in this beer and the tannins are quite noticeable. Good, but I prefer the other sisters. chibuck (3521) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2011
The beer pours a mellow a red, almost strawberry in color with a light pink head. There are lots of nice yeast floaties. It pours with tons of carbonation but is gone quickly with a decent amount of lacing.
The aroma is light but nice and tart. The dominating flavor is blackberries.
The taste is good, has nice tartness but is not very powerful. It needs to be little more tarty but its very drinkable.
Update based on 2010 bottled. This version is brand new. Biggest difference is the aroma, very buttery, not very tart. Still not a big fan of this beer, 2009 is probably better. Odde (308) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 23, 2011
Shared at the Tampa Crew Tuesday Tasting. Thanks for the trade, Tooch4321. Punchy funk nose with lots of blackberries, gentle sweetness and appreciable sourness. Great beer. hirigalzkar (3294) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 14, 2011
Bottle. Is this really a sour/wild ale? Only slightly sour. Lots of nice strawberry and rapberry notes in taste. Taste is little short. Too much carbonation. Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - MAR 12, 2011
Pinkish/purpleish minimal head. Aroma rather muted, light sour cherry, light funk. Flavor on par, sourness comes through a tad more. Well attenuated. Decent overall.
