GABF 2008. Pours hazy light amber with an average, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (straw), light hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (earth) with notes of wood and blackberry. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a sour finish. FoBAB 2008. Poured a slightly hazy dark orange color with an off white head. Attractive aroma of red wine, cereal grain, and oak. There were also whiffs of cider vinegar and toffee. Lots of funk in the nose when swirled vigorously. Light to medium bodied and fruity with moderate acidity that dropped off precipitously in the middle. 22oz bottle. Pours red with a small ring of white lacing. Lively carbonation. Aroma is of cherries, wood, yeast, funk, and spice. Taste starts off very sour with lots of tart cherries and apple. It slowly mellows after a few sips, allowing a lot of spice, yeast, and oakiness to come through. The finish is very dry with some hints of tangy fruit and hot spice. Body is light. Bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park, Cook County, Illinois, in the United States of America: It pours a hazy amber bosy with an egg-shell head that quickly reduces to a ring. Spotty lacework.. The aroma is toffee, berries, wet straw, and a tart Brett funk. Sharply acidic in the taste, it also has a touch more fruitiness, some white vinegar, and a bit of rust. Sampled at Noog 5. One of the various sour beers I was lucky enough to taste. Orange/red grapefruit like color with a bit of hazy and a wispy head. Bready aroma with hints of fruit and tartness. The flavor is nicely tart as the aroma suggests but not particularly strong. Just a remnant of peach and strawberry like notes with a wet finish. Pretty good overall. Pours attractive deep and clear ruddy brown. Nose is tart and slight oak. A bit of berry in the flavor with the funk and barrel influence. A bit single faceted. Not much of a barrel influenced finish either.
