September 19, 2015 - at The Kernel with a whole bunch of RateBeer lunatics for Zwanze Day. Another generous share from lagerloather. Dark pour, minimal head. Sharp, somewhat boozy aroma, sweet, viscous - not all that bitter. Taste - honesly like a less roasty Bourbon county - it’s really a BW? - it didn’t wow me. Slick, a bit still, mostly thin bourbon and alcohol in the finish. Glad to try it, but didn’t love it. nickd717 (4886) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Had this before, didn’t bother to record tick. Problem solved note that I had it again. Bottle at a tasting - thanks, Kevin! Clear dark brown with reddish hues, lots of small bubbles. Complex aroma of toffee, maple, leather, bourbon. Medium dry for the style with some bitterness, toffee, molasses. Nicely carbonated with full body and some boozy heat. Really nice and polished BABW. jc1762 (1609) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 30, 2016
Thanks Matthew for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing moderately filtered caramel brown with sparse latte colored foam.
The nose shows a mix of bourbon, toffee, fig, and dates.
The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Moderately sweet with a mix of bourbon, fig, dates, that combines to a Madeira like port. Mid palate shows cigar box notes. Finish is harmonious smoke and caramel. skortila (5985) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - NOV 27, 2016
Bottled, 2011. Thanks John and Menno. The aroma has raisin, caramel, bourbon. Bit hazy, brown coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is sweet with a lot of dried fruit, caramel, bit candy, bourbon. Full bodied, strong taste sensation. PotjeBier (3734) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 16, 2016
Sample from bottle @ De Molen, thanks Menno & John. 2011 edition (13.4%). Dark brown color. Light beige head, not much and short retention. Aroma’s: bourbon, sweetness, dried fruit (plumbs notably). Retronasal it’s sweet, bourbon, alcohol, wood. Flavor is sweet, bourbon, toffee. Strong alcohol feel. Full bodied. Long finish. Lovely!

2011 bottle shared by the brewers at the Goose Launch. Chocolate, caramel, prune and light tobacco notes on the nose. Tons of malty goodness. More chocolate, toffee, toasted molasses with dates. The bourbon has really taken a backseat at 5 years old. Incredibly smooth and drinkable for 13 percent. Amazing really. Christpuncher (3251) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 12, 2016
