Fantastic wild ale, balanced well between malts and hops. Just enough yeast and spice to let you know it's a wild. Great in many respects!

Vintage 2013 -
Aroma: fruity yeast esters dominate (get some papaya, orange rind), some spices, some sweet malts and a slight funk.
Appearance: pours (into tulip glass) a medium amber with a maroon tint. a 1/4" of white head with below average retention. the beer is hazy but overly so. some minimal lacing was observed.
Taste: pronounced sweetness, caramelly malts, molasses and candy sugar. somehow balanced by enough earthy bitterness and yeast funk.
Palate: medium/full body, rich almost chewy texture, moderate carbonation, and significant astringency. Finishes sweet and long. Lingering astringency.
Overall: complex beyond a basic BPA. has not mellowed with age. still a lot going on... Tide (4063) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 7, 2017

2016 bottle bought in SF. Amber-brown and fizzy with little head. Nose is banana with light caramel and dry herby-spicy notes. That carries through onto the palate with a dry peppery bitterness and a nutty malt undertone. Nice.

On draft at Goose Island bar at O’Hare Airport. Poured dark amber with an abundant long lasting cream head. The aroma was floral hops, spice, and yeasty malt. The taste malt, hops, some sweetness and dark fruit. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with good carbonation. Bottle. 2008 Vintage, BBE date Sept 2013, Drank Jan 2010 - Golden in colour. Very Fruity; citrus-orange, peaches, apples. Spicy and yeasty flavor. Malty; caramel, toffee, hint of candy sugar. Hoppy; grassy and spicy hops. Sweet fruity malty throughout and very dry. Smooth, relatively mild and subtle. Enjoyed this a lot. Nice beer! (2010-01)

Noooo! I should have known: always open a 5 year old bretty beer close to the sink, not in the living room! After opening the bottle I spend the next 10 minutes cleaning the floor. The little that is left of the bottle that actually ends up in my glass is cloudy and full of sediments. The body is medium amber, and the off-white head is actually not that big (most of the carbonation escaped as I opened the bottle). Funky, sweet, sour and strong aroma of tart light fruits, apple, pineapple and leather, with some caramel in the back. Strong flavour of funky yeast, acidic light fruits, grapefruit, lemon, lemon peel and grape pits, upon a background of spices and perfume. Very little sweetness and bitterness, moderate sourness. Light and very dry body, and the carbonation that initially was explosive, ends up as moderate as I drink. 12 ounce bottle. Has slight sweet aroma and golden amber in color. Lightly carbonated and can taste the Belgium yeast. Little sour on the palate and above average for this style beer.
