12 oz. bottle. Pours dark reddish, brown with khaki head, decent lacing.
Slight raisin bread, toffee aroma. Mouthfeel is medium body & carb. Taste of mild sweetness, roasted malt with just enough rye to make itself known on the finish. Always look forward to this beer during the winter mos. Great everday beer, very sessionable, always keep a 12pk in the fridge when available.
This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a head of finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a strongly carbonated transparent cola brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing t hat was very pretty to look at. The deep aroma was musty and mild spice. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of vanilla spices and malt. A wonderful best in class brew. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 12, 2016
Deep brown with a nice tan head. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee and nuts with a little caramel. Flavor is smooth with a little chocolate and dark malts and coffee with little hops. Finish is still smooth with a bite of bitterness. nybol (1765) - DENMARK - APR 24, 2016
Let humlet, let prikken, mild vinter. Næ, den bliver mere og mere humlet. Den er rigtig god. Må prøve den til gås engang...ja bare fordi. arnold931 (1263) - Iowa, USA - NOV 23, 2015

Dark pour with tan white clingy head. Malty aroma, oatmeal, grain, light caramel and bready. A bit watery not thick. Beer tastes better when warmer.

I’ve only had this beer once when I was on vacation in Chicago in the middle of February sounds crazy right? But this beer will warm you right up. Love it! GreatDane1632 (1169) - North Dakota, USA - DEC 20, 2014
On tap at the brewhouse during St Patty’s festivities -- I like this as a brown, was "meh" about it as an ESB. Go Browns. Darkmagus82 (2302) - - AUG 10, 2014

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep copper/mahogany color with a big white head. The big bubbles entrapped within the head pop over time to leave a wonderful level of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is a blend of a bready, roasted, and yeasty smells. Mixed with these aromas are a very light spice and nutty aroma as well.
Taste – The taste begins of a bready and slightly caramel and brown sugar sweetened flavor. As the taste advances some roasted and spice flavors then come to the taste. The sweeter flavors lose a big of their ground more toward the end as some hop flavors begin coming to the tongue. With the hop flavors, which are mainly earthy in nature, comes some spice flavors as well which in the end leave a nice roasty flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well.
Overall- A fairly decent winter ale as it’s not too heavy and yet maintains a nice flavor profile.

Pours a clear amber body with white head. Lots of caramel malt on this, along with plenty of spice on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with rye spice. A good winter ale. hotstuff (5140) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 25, 2014
Rated on 1-29-2011 at Brewers of Indiana Guild Winterfest (Indianapolis, IN). This beer has a small smooth ivory head that mostly diminishes, amber transparent body, very little carbonation noted, and a generous amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, bread, light toffee, and semi-sweet. The taste is semi-sweet, caramel malt, bready, and lightly spicy. This beer has a lively mouth feel and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this is an easy drinking beer and not overly spicy tasting. It is worth trying and is a beer I would drink again.
