Chriso Rock The Roof Down pre-GBBF shindig. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is spices, alcohol, liqouorice, chocolate and some mild coffeeish notes as well. Mild grassy and fruityness as well. Flavour is liquorice, spices, alcohol and some chocolate as well as mild red berryish notes. Slight alcoholic burn while swallowing.
Bottle. Black. Small but very dark brown head that settles quickly to three bubbles. Aroma of brandy, dilute coffee, dark Hershey bar, prune. Thick and chewy, almost solid. Taste starts with dark cocoa and progresses to port, smoke, peat, raisins. As it warms, the hops really come through in the finish, without overwhelming the complexities of the stout itself. Rich stuff. cgarvieuk (25377) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 4, 2009
Tap at goose Pre DLD day ... deep black ... sweet roast malt nose ... luittle black current ... rich and syrupy ... hop back ground ... quite a difficult drink omhper (25372) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - NOV 30, 2010
Bottled at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm. Completely black with rich creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate and tobacco. Very sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Intense chocolate and coffee, lots of sugar. Thick and syrupy, the powerful sweetness collides with bitterness into a sweet, inky sensation. Somehow reminiscent of a (more bitter) port, but with chocolate and coffee flavours. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - AUG 20, 2010
