4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber in a tulip glass. Night Stalker isn’t brown. It isn’t dark brown. It isn’t dark red. It’s black. The head is generous and full of micro bubbles. So far so good. Wow! The nose is very green and hoppy. In no other beer have I ever seen the proof of the relationship between hops and cannabis. If you’re a smoker you should try this beer for the aroma alone. The body is heavy and oily but not cloying. There IS a sweetness present and it isn’t subtle but it is almost a side effect. The dry hopping is superbly evident with the massive doses of raw hop goodness. It doesn’t take hop infusion to the extreme like a Dogfish Head but lays the hops on top like gift wrapping. There is a very complex twist to flavor that reminds me of horehound in a way. I’ve had better impy stouts but this is a unique gem that should be tried. Oh, and don’t plan of forgetting it after you drink it. The after taste is full and aggressive.
Intensiver, rund malziger Antrunk. Klebrig schokoladig, etwas Kakao, aufdringlich. Geringe Bitterkeit, unsüffig. 10/10/8/8/11/8 Inbreak (6529) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2016

2012 vintage, on draft at the York River Landing (Nov. 2015). BCBS without the barrel aging. It’s got a very, very distinct smell and flavor that reminds me of the BCBS’ marshmallow sweetness. Interesting, unique, and actually a really top-notch imperial stout. Viper666 (3289) - Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 24, 2016

650ml bottle (v2010) shared at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with nice brown head. Malty aroma, roasted, dark dried fruits, chocolate when it gets warmer, caramel, butter, wineous, wood, light alcohol. Sweet and bitter like aroma with soy and some coffee notes. Full silky body with soft carbonation. Probably not a good bottle. Vestergaard (2091) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2015
Bottle shared in the line for Blåbær Release 2015. Pours a pitch black with a nice, dense, tan head. Aroma is hoppy, roasty, licorice, salmiak, coffee, slight grass. Taste is roasty bitter, hoppy, coffee salmiak. Still fairly sweet. Full body and average carbonation. Sarlacc83 (2290) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle. 2/19/2010 date.
A: Black in a way which would please Batman. Thin, dying mocha head. Lacing.
N: Vanilla, cocoa, coffee, black peppercorn, rye, earth, milk chocolate, a hint of toffee and caramel. Smoke and almost like a rough tar. Not gross like that, but it seems like the right description somehow. Light oxidation from its 5 years of age.
T: Quite sweet, but not cloying like the latest iterations of Bourbon County Stout. A bit hoppy still.
M: Thick, motor oil body, light carbonation, alcohol is very well hidden.
O: This was the big time, long ago, before In-Bev took over production and turned BCBS into a call for insulin. Only minor oxidation after 5 years, too, which is impressive. arnold931 (1264) - Iowa, USA - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle. Pours a deep black with a small brown head. Nose is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Great. TorbenJensen (1572) - Valby, DENMARK - AUG 18, 2015
It’s thick as oil and hangs in thick lace on the glass inside. Smoke and dried fruits rises from the glass estimates vinous association. The taste is very rich and creamy and is heavy in the mouth. Prunes, grapes, plums and port wine fill for the taste buds with the distinct flavor of smoke and oak.
