Deep amber in color... Aroma of caramel malts... Flavor is caramel, with light body and minimal hop finish... Nothing remarkable monkeychugg55 (1087) - Joliet, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2011
Copper body with a lasting white head. The aroma is toasty caramel malts, a touch of hops, and some spice-like notes. The flavor is similar but stronger and quite tasty. Dogbrick (12936) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 14, 2011
Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. The beer is a clear orange-brown color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and mild hops. Light to medium body with flavors of malt, sweet caramel and toffee, and herbal hops. The finish is sweet and malty. Slightly above average overall. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 9, 2011
draf... light bright orange, ok head... nose is light but I’m a big fan of the taste, one of my favorite of the style, sweeter marzen, super easy to drink, would have again TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Flight on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich copper hue, great fiery glow, pretty much transparent with a decent offwhite head, dies to a thicker ring, laces ok. Aromas are crispy and sweet carmely malts, toffee, toast, biscuits. Some walnuts, sweet malts, faint spice. Sweeter on the nose than I’d like, staying away from toastiness, spice, or hops. Initial is medium bodied, offering a bit of girth on the palate for a lighter offering. Sweet toffee, caramel, and biscuits. Some mellow light spice, moving into walnuts, a touch of red fruit, and lingering bready and sweeter malts. Backend throws just a touch of spice, yeast, no real hop presence, perhaps just a kiss. Mellow bland sweeter malt finish, offering some sticky malts. Not my thing.. Prefer a dry and hoppy Okt.. Dries out a little as I get further in to it. It was ok.

I drank this one 5 months too late. There were plenty of live cultures floating around which added a psychological aspect to the drink. BVery (10328) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 28, 2009
