Draft on tap at the Clybourn Brewpub at the 25th Anniversary Party (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich brownish black hue, good opaque hue wilth black brownish hue, frothy tannish head atop as a good layer, laces ok. Aromas are cocoa, carmelized, biscuits and pretzels. Initial is toasty, big toast and biscuits. Toasty and cocoa elements, some bready malts, gentle roast. Middle is toasty, biscuity, some good cocoa presence. Backend is toasty and cocoa, a bit of a one trick pony. Some gentle sweetness. Finish is toffee, toast, dryness sticky malts and a bit of body. Brown malts and molasses elements give some life. Cask... Aroma is great, roasted nuts, light milky bite, sweet chocolate... Taste is a touch too cocoa bitter chocolate with a thin grassy finish... Very solid

Draft at Clybourn. Dark sepia with read highlights, cream head of small bubbles dissipates. Green nose, bit metallic, light roast and chocolate. Flavor is more chocolate, roast, bit chalky in the finish, bitterness and chocolate clashing, incoherent through the dusty, overly sweet finish.

On tap at Clybourn. This poured a medium to dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was roasted malt, light chocolate and some bittering hops. On tap at GI Clybourn 7/20/09. Pours dark black with bubbly cream head. Coffee, roasted nuts and caramalized butter on the nose. Nice sweetness, then a fantastic bitter coffee finish. A phenomenal porter.
