On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin coating of white head. Sweet toasty grainy caramel malty aroma has a touch of citrusy hops. (Jun 07) Tap at Clybourn, MBA pint glass: Slightly hazy reddish brown with a nice long lasting creamy head and very good lace. The taste has a malty and fruity overtone with an earthy and herbal backbone. A weird plastic finish did cause some concern. The mouth feel is lively yet soft, chalky dryness in the finish. Okay beer but the flavor did not match the aroma, quaffable.
On tap @ Clybourn: Clear light amber in color with a white head. Aroma, caramel and pale malts, some earthy notes. Flavor, caramel some sweet notes, toasted malts, and some earthiness to it on the end.

From the tap this poured a dirty red body with a modest white head. The aroma had some caramel, orchard fruits, and a slight earthiness to it. Not a bad malty flavor with some fruit tossed in. Sampler. Seems to have migrated to the Clybourn location once the Cubs were out of the pennant race as of June. Looks liike the Rotweizen I just had, minus the murk and the weizen. Smell is actually a little less robust, too. Much clearer reddish brown color. Cask pour. The cask version, available 6/6, shows a stiffer foamy head. Still has a nice effervescence, with a much more prominent malt character.
Draft at Wrigleyville. Had this brew after freezing and leaving early from a mid-May Cubs-Sox game. A good session ale, although not quite as good as Wrigley Red which was pouring at the same time. Ughsmash (7503) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 27, 2007
Poured a murky reddish-brown with a well-retained short white head. Aroma picked up dusty biscuity notes with hints of dark fruit and some dry herbal notes.. came across as a cheap amber. Flavor was of artificially-sweetened, lightly-toasted caramel with faint dark fruit and light herbal bitterness.. uptick of dark fruit again at the finish. Lighter-bodied with noticeable effort to be non-offensive in all facets… certainly sessionable.
