On tap at Beer Bistro. Transparent bronze, with some head. Sweet aroma and malts. Starts off smooth, hints of spices, malts, pines and sugar. nice mouth feeling, nothing too bitter nor tangy here. gentle carbonation and finish. Quite surprised at 7%, not noticable. Not like other Abbey Tripels I’ve had, too soft and plain in taste. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 18, 2007
On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Transparent bronze orange pour has a wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of spicy clove and sweet Belgian malt along with some bready yeasty notes. Body starts fairly full, but not as sweet as I would expect, but with a finely dissolved carbonation and some light fruity esters. Also has some orange citrusy tartness toward a slightly thinner finish. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

(Jun 07) Tap at Clybourn, served in Reserve glass: Slightly hazy deep golden hue with a small frothy head and some lace. The aroma is sugary with mango and pear esters, clove like hop spice, earthy and woody vapours as well. The taste is fruity sweet at first supported by a grainy midsection and a moderate hop spice finish. The mouth feel is warming and smooth, lush and dry finish. I found this quite good but just short of newsworthy. Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 15, 2007
This poured a slightly hazed golden amber with a modest white head. No lacing. The nose was sweet, fruity (citrus and cherries), and spicy, with a touch of PNW hopping. Fairly light bodied, the sweet pale malt has a nice blend of fruit and warm spices to back it up, the alcohol barely being present in the taste. It finishes on a sweet and peppery note. Better than GI’s previous tripels.

Draft at GI - Clybourn. Poured a lightly hazy medium golden with a short cap of white head. Aroma was like a very good APA upfront with sweet candied grapefruit and pine.. white pepper and cloves accent and get stronger with warmth. The flavor had a great foray of sweet pine and grapefruit with white peppery spices and cloves washing over it.. heavier on the back-end with the spices taking over.. rather sweet overall with a long spicy finish. Medium-bodied with more sweetness on the front-end and more spices at the back-end.. decent balance.. some sharp notes at the finish.
