On tap at brewpub. Pours black with small light tan head. Aromas of coffee and some roast. Flavors of coffee, some roast, and bit of dark chocolate. Finishes with some coffee bitterness. Draft at Clybourn. Pours a deep brown black with a tan head that persists to the end. Well, this is fresh. Huge coffee aroma, deep chocolate notes. Coffee really dominates, in a good way. Some faint green pepper notes as well. On tasting, this tastes like iced coffee. Nice and medium full body with lots of fruity notes and roast from the coffee. On tap at the source, the gi clybourn... Pours a predominantly opaque dark cola hued complexion, a touch less intense at the edges, and topped with a one to two inch light beige head that rests on tap... Burst of roasted coffee notes upfront with very much little of anything else. Fresh and non-ashy probably best describes it. Solid... Flavors are a continuation if the same with fresh roasted noted of coffee, sligtly bittersweet and smooth in general albeit with a slightly lighter body than I would have expected. Mild to medium level of carbonation. Coffee-centric to be sure in the best possible way if into that. Well worthy of a try but a bigger body could have helped some.

Draft at goose, pours black tan head. Nose of uber freely ground coffee, dark smooth roast, vanilla and nutty, great coffee notes. UPDATED: JAN 14, 2012 Flight pour on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). A new Imperial Stout! Pours a rich opaque black hue, dark with some brownish ruby edges show some glow. A bigger frothy light brown head, dies to a good film, good lacing overall. Aromas are rich coffee, espresso, and earth. Roast, toast, dry hops, biscuits. Lots of rich coffee is lovely. Initial is fuller bodied, though not heavy, offering good healthy coffee, roast and touches of earth, cocoa, some caramel. Dry essence flows in, roasty and coffee filled being. Flowing into the palate, not overbearing, with rich coffee, roast, toast, gentle mocha and chocolate. Some toffee, biscuits. Great flavors with healthy roast, earth, and coffee. Not the most complex beer, but tasty. Quite drinkable. Tasty, strong assertive flavors. Recommended.
