COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Goose Island stout is made with 25% rye malt for an interestingly spicy, almost tangy flavor. This brew has a long roasty sweetness from 50 pounds each of chocolate malt and roasted barley and is hopped with Styrian Golding hops.

Draft at the Marcey St. location. Nice dark brown color and a great tan head. was pleasantly surprised at the hoppiness in both the aroma and flavor. Really put forth a nice sharp bitterness. roastiness was somewhat subdued. it was a really good stout.

Draft. The beer memory is starting to fade at this point. I remember a nice rye malt flavor and some bitterness. Mouthfeel was not really like a stout, but the beer was still pretty good.

On tap at brewpup. Dark black, with a tan head. Aroma of roasted and chocolate malt; some rye and hops. Good palate; rye flavor gave it some uniqueness. Very enjoyable.

Poured jet black with a fast-fading, oily, tan head. Up front rye in aroma with plenty of roastiness. Robust flavor but without the body to carry it... a rather wet palate. Rye intensity is herbal and almost metallic in its sharpness with dark, semi-sweet chocolate lingering beneath.

Draft Wrigleyville: Cask version. I didn’t get much Rye out of this, but it had a bitter sweet finish that suited me. Not much hop going on, but a solid stout.

Outstanding stout. Reminded me a lot of Storm King - a good stout with a great hop presence. In my book, a hoppy stout is a godsend. Loved it.

clyborn brewpub. mahogany hues contrast the semilucid creamy tan wrung that formed into a peninsula. Bam! thick but moderate, something about espresso and dark chocolate. that came up a few times. dunkel? anyways, it’s a charlie chaplin of craft beer apparently. bam!

Draft @ Clybourn. Poured a very deep brown with a creamy beige head. Spicy hops, dry bitter chocolate, and a light currant sweetness in the aroma... always enjoy well-placed rye. Flavor mimics the aroma well.. smooth middle, but a sharp bitterness at the finish seemed a little out of place. Just a little thin on the palate, too. Another solid effort from the Goose.

On tap at Clybourn. Nice dark pour with a nice tan head. Bitter chocolate, molasses, vanilla, coffee, and subtle hints of charcoal. I did not get a big hop kick as the menu suggested but it was a fine beer.
