On draught at the Wriggleyville location: Pours a dark amber with a nice sized beige head. Talk about campfire! Big smokiness surrounding this beer. Like a sausage- smokey. Maintains quite a bit of fruit and wheat throughout. Cashew, caramel and bacon flavors. Mouthfeel is delightful. Fun and carbonated with a nice creamy finish." Growler. Poured a clear brown-orange color with a light tan head. Smoke? You bet, but not overpowering. Just the right amount in my opinion. There were also shoe leather, toffee, and new rubber elements. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with a dash of salt. Good stuff. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 10, 2010
Sample at Clybourn. Pours clear red with a medium tan head. Sweet malt nose with smoke, but it actually smells more like a smoked cheese than smoked meat. Flavor is of smoked meat and caramel sweetness. Didn’t get as much of the weizen character I was expecting and I’m not complaining. beernbourbon (1592) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JAN 7, 2010
Draught at Clybourn. Pour is hazy deep brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is pleasantly smokey, lightly malty, lightly earthy, and faintly sweet. Flavor is much more balanced and cohesive than expected. The smoke is present but not overwhelming. It is coupled with the lightly sweet and spicy roasted wheat. The flavor is not unlike smoked gouda cheese in both assertiveness and subtlety. A distinct and tasty beer. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2009
Dark brown-orange, off white cover. Aroma is smoked sausage, ash. Taste is bacon, sausage, ash, campfire, caramels.

Tap at Goose Island Clybourn. Remarkable beer! Semi-clear dark amber pour, small white head. Nose of barbeque (smoked meat), more of the same on taste. Phenomenal smoked brew! cprochak (590) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 12, 2009
Draft at wrigleyville pours hazy light brown, little tan head. Bacon, smoke, pine. Touch of sweetness then a long dry smoky finish. Great beer that only lacks a little in drinkability. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 2, 2009
Draft at GI Clybourn. Pours a deep red/brown with off-tan head. Nose is campfire, bacon, spicy esters of cloves and bread. On taste, the smoke comes through well and the esters support a sweetness that compliments the smoke very well. Kinda like smoked maple bacon. Finishes clean and sweet with the weizen yeast very complimentary. Another great smoked from GI. User29624 (1683) - - NOV 21, 2009
Pours amber with a thin white head (served in a goblet). Aroma of smokey meat and some sweet malt. Nice smoke flavor that was fairly well balanced with the rest of the beer. Interesting. 17thfloor (2443) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 20, 2009
Pours clear rich red slightly hazed with creamy eggshell froth. Aroma is the highlight, great beechwood aroma, lovely wet forest wood, some very light banana caramel sweetness. Flavor same but a bit tannic and watery. Weak finish.
