4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2013 [Bottle, 2013] Murky sunshine yellow body with a soapy, bone white head that lasts as a nice chunky collar & swampy film. Aroma is bursting with fruit; lemon flesh, orange, peach, mild apricot, white grape, all backed my solid helping of farmhouse funkiness. Wet hay, cotton, slight sweaty & cheesy funk. Somewhat floral, faintly spicy & grassy hop character. Complex aroma. Taste includes much funk & fruit as well. Lemon peel, peach tones, musty hay, orange zest, hints of barnyard sweat funk, crisp melon, fresh grassy tone, slightly vinous white grapes & a strong bready, yeast filled finish. Lots of yeast. Chunky yeast body with a highly carbonated, crispy & dry finish. A great example of the style.
[Tap, 2013] I’ve found that Sofie actually loses a bit of it’s spunk on tap. Not sure if it’s the fact that it doesn’t receive full "bottle conditioning" (keg conditioning?) but it’s not quite as freshly funkified & thus loses a bit of it’s aforementioned brightness on tap as compared to cracking open a bottle. Less carbonated & lively as well. Still a good beer on tap, but fantastic in the bottle. My score will still represent the bottled versions.
Small bottle from Elizabeth Station. Bottled on 2016-06-02. Slightly hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma is slightly flowery and earthy, typical for Belgian Saisons. Taste is similar. Pleasant and refreshing. Good stuff. loscovar (304) - Villeneuvette, FRANCE - JUL 19, 2017

Bottle (2017) - Pours a hazy gold, peach tint, white head. Aroma of that great Belgian yeast (cloves, bubblegum, banana), fruity and floral, dry wine-like, light bread, hops end. Very good Saison. FinnIckler (479) - GERMANY - JUN 30, 2017
Bottle from saveure-biere. Bottled on 29.09.2016. Pours hazy orange, very short lasting head. Nose is super fruity, orange peel and citrus peel, with a sourness almost like a sour wild ale or a gueze. Palate is tart and lemon zest, orange, hoppy finish. Awesome Belgian Saison!

On tap at GABS 2017. A dry finish, hints of hay amongst the funk, very drinkable and refreshing. Itzjerm (2866) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - JUN 21, 2017
2013 bottle which added amazing body with the age. Really this is an amazing. Beligian saison. The saison is muted as is the wine barrel. But you can detect the smoothness a wine barrel will add. Nose is light fruitiness and rose water. Body is medium. Very nice lasting head. Wow! May be inbev... but with some age amazing! chicagobears (473) - Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2017
2015 bottling. Carbonated pour into Duvel snifter. Very yeasty aroma. Kinda dank and fruity. Sour taste that lingers and a lot of vanilla. Very estery and mildly spicy. Not quite on par with the best Saison but has an interesting taste for being aged for a couple years. agl108 (1242) - Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 3, 2017
On draft at Old Burdicks. Poured hazy gold with very thin head. Lemon, pepper. Dry finish. Enjoyable. MarcoBasile (422) - DENMARK - MAY 31, 2017
Aroma is tart and funky. Hay, wet grass.
It pours a slightly murky light orange body with little head.
Taste is funky with notes of yeast. Again, hay and a little tartness.
Watery body with medium carbonation
