Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

It pours a light hazy golden leaving a large one inch foamy and bubbly white head in my pint glass. Though pretty hazy, carbonation is still seen rising. Foamy lacing is left. The smell has the orange, lemon and Belgian yeast up front, but combined nicely. The taste is sharp around the citrus yet some distinct refreshing sweet qualities from some light malts make a slight presence. Lemon comes in really strong close to the end of the pint glass. The palate is light to medium with adequate sharpness on the tongue. Id say this is pretty drinkable. It leaves a sticky aftertaste and finish. Overall, this is good for its style and good for me.

From Saveur Biere. In Goose Island glass. At lunch, with maccaroni bolognesa. Noticeable yet elegant, non agressive funkyness. Notes of white grapes/wine and refreshing amarillo hops. Effervescent. Sounds good but the truth is that it took much long to finish, wasnt easy drinking.

This surprised me, a lot better than I thought it would be. Pours pale golden with a quickli disappearing head, smells are citrus, pepper and herbs. Taste is sweet, citrus with a dry peppery finish. Plenty of carbonation. I expected this to be like a wiessbier for some reason which I hate, but its not, its a very very nice beer.

Raspberry, bubblegum type of Aroma with a white head that dissipates quickly. Very clean taste with a tart citrus aftertaste that leaves quickly. Very good. Aroma is very deceiving upon drinking.

Its a little bit champagne-y, for sure. Moderate bitterness, a strong taste of oranges and herbs and spices. Very subtle and refined tastes, but maybe just a little bit too sweet for me to fully enjoy.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is pale malt, slightly funky yeast, tart dried fruits, orange, citrus peel, floral, peppery and soft herbal notes, mild bretty, touch of wood and creamy vanilla. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and fairly tart with a dry finish. Body is medium. Has all the qualities and complexity of a fine Saison.

Bouteille 33cl. Couleur champagne, mousse blanche tnue. Agrumes aux nez et au palais. Armes de vin blanc, banane, poivre par moments. Final trs lgrement houblonn et raffrachissement. Manque mon sens de caractre pour dpasser le stade de "bonne bire".
