Draft sample at FOBAB 2010. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of cocoa beans, vanilla, oak, bourbon, and lactose. The flavor follows closely, with a lot of dark chocolate, barrel notes, and milk sugar. Very mellow and balanced. Medium-full bodied, with a slick, oily mouthfeel and low carbonation. Awesome sweet stout. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - NOV 12, 2010
FoBAB 2010, my 2nd brew of the day: Opaque with a good beige head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, toast, caramel, oak, vanilla, leather, and a hint of black pepper. A bit of bourbony vapours start to finish, a tad stinging. The taste has a smooth and sweet overtone of lush chocolate and roasted malts with vanilla and walnut character. Much like the nose, there is a constant bourbon barrel note but more complementary than overpowering, nice. The mouth feel is surprisingly chewy and smooth, more body than expected in a BB Aged stout. Mikey Likey this a lot.
