Growler… Pours clear and dark brown with burnt-orange highlights and a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Good retention. The nose offers heaps of spices – spice rack clove really stands out. Medium to full-bodied and watery with restrained carbonation. Spicy, malty flavor – mild chocolate and herbs. Finishes mildly bitter, spicy and herbal. Growler courtesy of Maltzilla! On tap at Goose Island Wrigleyville, pour is dark brown with a modest beige head; it rings the tulip nicely after dissipating. The nose is spicy on this brew, but ultimately unique. Citrus, pepper, and cocoa, I suppose. The Thai elements come through More on the tongue, while the spicy notes are hardly noticeable. This brew feels well done, though it doesn’t feel like something I can drink heavily...... drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 16, 2011
draft at clybourn. pours ruby red with white head. aroma has a huge pepper character with some mint, and lime. flavors is oddly exactly like Thai spices with mint, lime, basil, big thai influences sweet and spicy smooth and easy drinking clean yeast profile. I didn’t find this to be your typical over spiced wit, but a rather unique, well executed, and interesting beer. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 15, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2011 Flight draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a interesting reddish brown hue, more glowing edges with a frothy offwhite near tannish head dies to a thicker ring, laces ok. Aromas are complex: flaked wheat, touches of darker toffee, toast moving into a bigger coriander and woody earthy tea presence, citrusy orange rind, touches of earthy spice and peppercorns. Interesting. Initial is lighter bodied, maybe into medium. Upfront offers some flaked wheat, darker toast and biscuits with faint orange dying out, moving into spicy peppercorns and a touch of chilis. Strange beer, tea blasts up front moving into spicy chilis. I like it, but I like tea and chilis and I find the transition works. But that’s just me. Some crisp malts, biscuits into the finish. I liked it. I don’t know if I could drink a bunch but it could make a good food pairing partner. deyholla (11496) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn location. Poured a hazy dark brown with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of spices, with a tea and mint note really coming through as well as some pepper and citrus. Flavor was similar with lots of tea and mint notes as well as a bit of pepper coming out in the finish. Not my cup of tea.

A lot of potpourri like flavors and someone definitely tricked me and squeezed a lime in when I wasn’t looking. Wondering what this tastes like at the brewpub. smith4498 (3641) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 14, 2011
Growler at Maltzilla’s tasting. Pours translucent black color with tan head. Aromas of corriander and "grandma’s potpouri" as someone at the tasting said. Aroma was somewhat off-putting. Weird perfumy flavor with some corriander and orange peel. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Very weird. slitcher (267) - Freeport, Illinois, USA - MAY 13, 2011
On draught @ Goose Island Wrigleyville. Pours a dark brown ,almost black, with a thin tan head. Aromas of tea and spices. Cola-like flavor with a peppery finish. A very interesting brew for sure and also quite good. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 29, 2011

Growler at CCBW press kick-off. Thanks to Jared for bringing it along! Pours hazy Mahogany with creamy tan head. Nose of licorice, black pepper, some peppermint, and cola. Spicy/carbonation double tongue punch. One of the most interesting beers at 6% I’ve been able to try. Peppery cola taste with medium-light body. I don’t taste the chilies as much as I feel them. Tingle lasts long after the last drop is gone.
