Taster at the Clybourn brewpub, late March. Thin layer of a stoutish colored fizz over an opaque, black body. Nose is more like a vanilla imperial stout, with raspberries well to the back. The taste, though, has some of that raspberry syrup, but a bit thinned out; it could even be coming from the warm ale fermentation. any fruitiness is also competing with roast from the black malt. It is sweet, though, with a red wine palate. Finishes dry and not too sticky or fruity, and just enough alcohol to make my fingers tingly.

Dark cola reddish mahogany hue and topped with a medium beige head... Soft tart red wine and berries, lightly musty. Touch of sour cherry and some backing dark toasty malt. Decent aroma... Faded flavor profile. Earth and dust and dry with light sour cherry. Really muted. Fluffy body with a pith bitter backend. Carbonation ok. Just doesnt come together.
