On tap at Taco Mac in Charlotte last week. It was fine, smooth drinking with some decent flavor, some sweet malts, etc. Not super great though, if not for my notes I wouldn’t really haven’t remembered this one. MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Execellent name. A solid Dunkel with noce roast and caramel malt falvors. It had a sharp finish and notes of bread, fig and chocolate.

Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a dark chestnut color with a medium fluffy beige head that diminishes slowly to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt and mild chocolate. Light body with a toasty malt character and flavors of cocoa and grain in the background. The finish is mildly roasty with a short malt aftertaste. Decent session beer overall. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - OCT 11, 2011
[Tap] Part of a sampler at GI-Clybourn in early September. Very dark brown pour with a small pillow of beige colored head. Light cocoa and dusty grain nose. Some brown sugar and coffee in the aroma as well. Tastes very grainy and a bit astringent. Dark roasted malts, ash and toasted breads. Light in body and palate. I was really looking forward to trying this beer, but came away expecting more. envane (570) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 6, 2011
Black with clear red at the edges and an off-white head. Roast and coffee aroma. Taste is fairly dry nutty malt with toasty finish. More like a schwarzbier than a dunkle.

Draft at GI Clybourn. I was excited to see a Dunkel, but alas. Pours an attractive enough deep mahoganny with red at the edges. Off-white head. Nose has a strong umami note, deep grainy caramel, not unlike Celebrator. Head dissipates fast, color is on the darker side. Overall, it seems subdued. Lacks the bread crusts and robustness of the best Dunkels. Just, very restrained. Not bad, just underwhelming. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 3, 2011
draft at Clybourn... dark mahogany with a light tan head, good color... the nose is a touch light but nice caramel with a nice smooth milky sweetness to it... tastes even better, caramel, toast, and lots of roast, one of the better dunkel’s I’ve had badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 20, 2011
tap at the clybourn location. black pour with minimal head. quite lifeless. toasted malt, roasted grain, oatmeal and chocolate...hints of coffee in the finish. thin, but highly drinkable TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice darker brown pour, some clarity, with ruby edes. Small light brownish head that dies to near nothing, no real lacing. Aromas are touched of carmelized malts, bread, biscuits. Some toast, faint dark fruit. Light. Initial is lighter bodied, on the heavier side though with toffee, biscuits, and toast. Some red fruit, touches of roast lingering. A touch of dry hops and toastiness into the finish. Touches of red fruit are subtle, faint cocoa. Simple but not bad. A little light on flavor, but the body is pretty dead on. For the ABV, I guess you can’t complain. Finish is lingering touches of toffee, dry toast, and some touches of red fruit. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Draft at goose clybourn, pours dark ruby with small white head. Nose has toasted nuts, caramel, ash, and figs. Flavors are nicely balanced toasted malts, smoke, with hint of brown sugar and milk chocolate in the finish.
