Decent enough Dunkel. Brownish/Amber in color. Small Beige head. Sweet caramel aroma with hints of spices. Sweet start. Top was thin. Finish was smooth with little bitterness. chadzter (94) - huntsville, Alabama, USA - JAN 28, 2006
Sampler at Honolulu restaurant. Aroma has a chocolate sweetness. Pour dark with an amber hue. The head is creamy offwhite with the flavor a caramel chocolate with maybe a roasted nut. pinkzambia (1931) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 11, 2007
Tap: Brown color and not quite clear accompanied by a nice light brown head. The aroma was earthy like peat moss with a well-balanced flavor. The aftertaste seemed to be just right, not too sweet. Out of the ones I had, this one is the only one I might consider having seconds. User57106 (246) - - DEC 3, 2007
Draft, consumed at Gordon Biersch Pasadena on 12/03/07. Slightly cloudy dark amber. Some bubbles still rising to form a thin skin of foam. Caramel maltiness in nose. Complex flavor of bread pudding. Aftertaste is agreeable, dry. auderale (605) - Minot, North Dakota, USA - JAN 24, 2009
Tap at Gordon Biersch/Honolulu: Sweet malty, caramely aroma with a nice sweet, lightly toasted malty finish. I liked this.

A decent beer, nothing too special, but smooth and tasty. Pours a beautiful ruby red with a thick white head. Smells malty, maybe a bit of marzipan. Taste is creamy, sort of empty upfront, with some coffee and toffee coming in, and a lingering sweetness on the tongue. Had in the bottle. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 17, 2015
750 ml. swing top from Safeway. It pours a deep reddish brown color, a bit hazy with a tall light tan head. The aroma is full with sweet cherries and red fruit. Light notes of raisin bread and malt. The flavor is a bit disappointing with some metal, light molasses and raisin bread. There’s some cherry cola sweetness as well that lacks depth. It ends on a dry, toasted note. The mouthfeel is pretty thin and fizzy. Could have used a richer mouthfeel and more flavor development. IslandHaole (1268) - Misawa, JAPAN - JUL 2, 2002
One of the most unusual beers I’ve had in a while. It had several flavor stages, one I didn’t care for somewhat like a chemical taste, but the carmel and malt flavors were quite good. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - JUL 1, 2007
On tap at G. B. Dark copper color with creamy white head. Faint malty aroma. Wheat bread taste with a grainy finish. TheShat (131) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - SEP 23, 2007
