On tap at Gordon Biersch, Buffalo, NY. Mahogany with a ring of cream head; coffee aroma; coffee taste; and a dry finish. Satisfying.

(draught) medium clear brown with decent tan bubbles around the edges. Nose of lightly sweet brown sugar, mild watery coffee, touch of smoke, and some cereal grains. Taste of cereal grain, watery coffee, a touch of smoke, and light brown sugar. Hate to repeat the Mose but it tasted exactly like i expected after smelling it. Light body and lots of flavor for the style.

From a sampler at the Gordon Biersch DC location on September 4th, 2005. Dark brown to black bodied. Roasty malts and light coffee. Some faint smoky notes and caramel.Taste has roasty malts, light coffee, dark chocolate and hints of cocoa. Body is medium-full with medium carbonation. Finishes roasty and sweet. I liked this best of the sampler and purchased a pint of this afterwards.

Location: We have a bunch of these in the metro DC area, I think Ive prob been to 3 of them, including the one in "Downtown Rockville" that I visit pretty often, Ive had this one on tap there

Overall Impression: Its an interesting beer to me, depends on my mood how much I like this one. It is successful at being a Schwartz, but its pretty thin even for the style, some decent flavors sometimes, but sometimes it strikes me as a bore...Well split the difference here.

Quite roasty aroma. This definitely is the most complex of the beers I’ve had from these guys. Roasty and a bit heavier; not amazing but good. Still light enough to have a few.

Sample at Atlanta. Comes almost black with small tan head. Aroma of coffee and malt. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Decent.

Tap: This has a deep dark brown body with a creamy ecru head. The aroma carries some lightly roasted malts, dark caramel, and lightly smoked nuts. A bit watery, but still delivering a moderately sweet, lightly roasted & toasted malt flavor with a mildly bitter finish. Quaffable.

Tap. Pours murky dark brown with thin, fizzy beige head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is faint with light roast and caramel malts, earthy hops, figs, and light coffee. Flavor is roast malt forward with some supporting hops and dark fruit esters; dry finish with a hint of roasted coffee. Light body and low carbonation.
