Braumeister Selekt. This Gordon Biersch creation applies Eisbock brewing techniques to a bock made primarily from malted wheat. Eisbock was produced using a technique created by a forgetful brewer from the Kulmbach Brewery in Kulmbach, Germany, who accidentally left kegs of bock beer outside during the coldest days of winter. Our modern-day process involves freezing the water molecules out of the brew and removing the frozen portion, thus concentrating the alcohol and flavor of the resulting ale.

75cl bottle. Minimal beige head atop clear copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some raisin. Taste is moderately sweet, raisin, prune, some alcohol warming, light alcohol burn. Sticky full body.

750mL flip-top thanks to argo0. Pours a clearer deep cola ruby. Medium beige to yellow foam. Dunkelweizen nose, chocolate covered banana dessert, estery, mild plastic, a bit doggy. Taste is papery, alcoholic, abrasive, dry. Mild chocolate banana, mint, paper. Fiancee said it tasted old and stale. Palate has some acid, sugar, maple, decent density. Not too bad.

The beer is light copper with a small head. The aroma brings banana, malt, booze, fruity esters. The flavor is a tad harsh, with bananas soaked in alcohol. This is ok. Best in small doses. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

~Strong banana and clove bready aroma with prune. ~Pours a cloudy reddish color with big lasing yellow creamy head. ~Strong clove and banana flavor with bread and some alcohol notes. ~Medium full bodied, medium CO2, alcohol warmth, lingering spice clove finish. ~Enjoyable strong brew. Probably enjoy t more as a normal Weizen Bock. Alcohol is a bit harsh. Banana, clove and bread is nice.

Stewed apple aroma with banana accents. Clear maroon, thin yellow head. Clove and stewed apple flavor. Medium body, spritzy. Apple skin finish. I’m not crazy about this one, but an honest effort from GB, and one of the few weizen eisbocks available.

AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - FEB 11, 2013
Bottle. Clear copper color with tan sheen. dark bread, dark fruit, banana, citrus, toffee aromas. medium body. Tart toasted toffee, sweet spices, citrusy, banana flavors---good.
