500 ml can shared with beer geeks at L’Autre Oeil, served fairly cold in a taster glass. 11NO10.

App.: Clear deep amber with a white veil. Aroma: Thick, sweet, nutty, very fruity, boozy, metallic, acetone, berries, apple juice, gross. Palate: Medium body with fairly full effervescence. Flav.: Solvent, booze, sweet and sugary (cloying), nutty, Sherry, caramel, acetone, butterscotch(?), fairly terrible; off-dry with stinging alcohol and a strange solvent/nut finish and bizarre astringency.

A study in defects and yuck.

Radek’s choice, at L’autre oeil in Aylmer. A little reddish colour, thought it was a Vienna and was pleasantly surprised by long bitter finish. Decent mouthfeel, drinkability. Would like more in-your-face hops.

Bottle 33cl. An amber ale with low carbonation and low head. Smell is on caramel and spices / agrumes notes. Aroma is medium sweet, on toasted malt, caramel and some spicy and herb notes such as juniper. Not too alcoholic, but complexity is low.
