baraciisch (3444) - California, USA - FEB 19, 2015
Rated from beer log from 2009 Belgian Trip.... 2003 Vintage... Candi sugar aroma, mildly aromatic, brown caramel in color... Fairly cloudy, minimal head, flavor is sweet like a typical dubbel with minimal bitterness, not very balanced... Tastes like I’m drinking dessert, finish is sweet candi sugar... Decent beer, but not terribly complex... Hides the 8.8% very well

Draught @ Hugos. Appearance: pours clear copper with very limited white head and limited lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, brown sugar, nuts, light chocolate and some herbal hints. palette: low carbonation, medium body, notable caramel sweetness, limited bitterness, medium duration and an oily texture. Overall: decent strong ale

BOTTLE 33 CL. The aroma starts with loads of sticky caramel, pure sugar lollipop, cotton candy. The flavour is also mostly burned sugar, with hints of warming alcohol and spicy hops. Behind these, you can pick up some lageresque sulphury notes. As it warms up the sulphur is replaced by fruit - overripe apricot. The body is solid. The finish is spicy bitter. Quite nice.

Rolig i glasset. Aroma af rosin og brændt malt. Brændt karamel. Lidt fjern tjære og en smule røg. Belgisk ale møde skotsk ale. Bondegårdsaroma. Lakrids.

Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel. The beer has a dark ruby red color and a nice white head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is very complex, but with clear tones of licorice, ripe dark fruits and a hint of caramel. The taste malty and dry with tones of roasted malts with in the background some sweetness with hints of caramel and the dark fruits from the aroma. Nicely balanced btw. The finish is pretty dry, fruity and light bitter. Well done this beer, although I miss the warming alcohol in this Christmas beer.
