TBone (18568) - Pori, FINLAND - DEC 28, 2004
Bottled, alc. 8,8 % (BB 05/2005)
Ruby brown color, nice brownish head. and lots of lace. Fruity aroma with raisins and plums, even a bit roasted. Starts with attacking hops then full to medium body gives plum sweetness. Then finishes with alcoholic kick. Aftertaste is warming and slightly bittersweet. Interesting and complex but a bit unbalanced.

Bottle. Pours dark mahogany. Off white head. Nose of roast chestnuts, toffee, caramel and fuggles. Taste of same with artificial candi sugar and sweet malts. Medium body. Decent.

330ml bottle - - Gallows Bird, Espoo
Beautiful deep red, luscious thick self-supporting creamy head. Rich mämmi and raisin aroma. Soft carbonation on the tongue. Initial spicy taste, but quickly a wave of very dry nuttiness - so dry it is almost papery. Aroma also shows the spice. A curious combination of the sweet, smooth, and sticky with the drying. Pleasant nutty finish. Covers 8.8% very well. Scores fairly well everywhere, but does not wow me. Definitely pretty good, just no wow.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2010 Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. It’s a clear, copper-colored beer with a small, beige head. Alcohol, malty sweetness, raisins in rum notes and dark caramel in the aroma. It’s full-bodied and warming in the mouth, with some dried fruits, but mostly sweet caramel. Warm, malty and slightly bitter finish. Not very much Christmas in this one, sort of like a Christmas edition of a strong euro-lager. Rating: 5-3-6-4-11-2.9. 091022

Bottle, thx to Peer. A clear, dark golden beer with a dense, beige head. Some alcohol on the nose, with grains and caramel, sugar and a fruity touch. Sticky on the palate, with caramel and grains, some bitterness and a touch of alcohol. Well, it’s not a bad one, but it’s not a good one either. Quite christmasy though, but I know of lots of other beers that are more beery. 101208

Bottle - Toffee, fig and raisin. Deep dark brown with a decent beige head. Dark toffee notes, touches of spice and some bitterness. Lots of boozy notes which is surprising considering the not huge abv.

Dark brown with a great creamy white head. Mild aroma - light sweet & dried fruits, malts, caramel & sugar. Full bodied - very soft & sweet flavor of roasted malts - caramel/coffee & some brown sugar. Very nice!

33cl bottle from Drink of Fulham. Pours; dark brown/mahogany with a foamy off-white head. Nose; smokey, leather, yeasty, stewed winter-berries. Taste; initial caramel malt, ginger fire, wood, mixed herbs, lots of dark fruits (plums, dates, raisins), bitter chocolate, nutty, slighty syrupy with a bitter aftertaste. Good winter warmer!

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2016 Bottle, 8.8%. BB 2003, 4 years ago. Slightly earthy aroma. Dark brown colour. The flavour is also quite earthy, with some sweet malt and a hint of pepper. Finishes with a little rough bitterness. Too old for me. 5 3 5 3 13Bottle, 8.8%. BB 2105, only one year ago this time. Caramelly and vinous aroma, some raisin. Clear dark brown colour. OK stable off-white head. The flavour is quite sweet. Has a lot of brown sugar and raisin. Hvidtøl aftertaste. 6 3 6 3 12

bhensonb (15993) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 17, 2010
Bottle from a small shop on the south side of the south plaza where the buses come and go in Bruges. West of the red monstrosity. Pours really dark brown/black with a very foamy/cllingy beige/tan head. Mildly xmas spice aromas. Full body. Lots of flavor. Dark roasted malt and mixed spice. Creates a strong herb/spice sensation in the mouth. It’s a heavy beer. Not a great beer, but a very sturdy and acceptable beer. Lots of caramel. Lots of flavor -repeated.

Borup (15969) - Albertslund, DENMARK - JUN 21, 2009
