This beer is great!! Pours a frothy light brown head on a chestnut colored body with a fine red glow. Aroma is heavy malty and fruity with lots of spices. Notes of chocolate, raisins, prunes and a warming tone of alcohol. Excellent! Flavor is full-bodied and extremely tasty. Malt, nuts, spices, dark fruits, citrus, milk chocolate. Soft, smooth and warming and really how a christmas beer should be like imo. Outstanding!

Dark brown, slim head. Malty aroma with dark fruit, chocolate and spices. Taste is very nice; malty, dark fruit, raisins, chocolate. Full bodied and warming. Great Xmas Ale, no matter I’m drinking it in June.

Rutzicka (102) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 25, 2001
This beer has a beautiful amber-brown colour with a fine head and a nice lace. Its aroma is very pleasant and powerful with notes of caramel and chocolate. Its flavour is well-balanced with a nice bitterness but is slightly disappointing in comparison to the aroma. The aftertaste is long and bitter.

A class performer--a holiday favorite. More Belgian than British in flavor than Gordon’s yearlong brew--but still the tell-tale hoppiness balanced with solid malt and a bit of holiday spice.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2008 A two year old aged one on tap at Kulimantor in Sept. Big notes of toffee and malt, very enjoyable. Page 190 of Michael Jackson’s only 381 out of his 500 Classic Brews to go.
