rauchbier (3940) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2001
Chocolatey malt aroma, mahogany brown colour and Licorice/malt in the mouth. A good alcoholic winter beer which would be better bottle conditioned.

Allseeingeye (223) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 26, 2002
Brown with red highlights. Decent head with a soap sud character. Clingy lace. Sweet malt and spice nose with hints of chocolate. Caramel malt and spice flavors. Bitter spicy aftertaste.

Voivod (304) - Como, ITALY - MAR 7, 2003
Ruby red colour, good, creamy and lasting head. Delicate aroma with just some hints of caramel and malts. The flavour is sweet, with good traces of burnt sugar, chocolate, liquorice and cherry. The sweetness is well balanced by the bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden.

bierkoning (13740) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - AUG 5, 2003
Aroma has porto, roasted malt and coffee. Full bodied. Caramel, coffee, apple, some roasted malt and dark chocolate in the flavor. Thick and loads of flavor. Long bitter chocolate finish.

JorisPPattyn (10072) - BELGIUM - AUG 28, 2003
(Pretty aged sample). Very dark brown; creamy, cream-coloured full head. Biscuity nose, malt syrup, dark malts, nutty, licorice. Extreme licorice-flavour, like liquified "jap". Retronasal very fruity flavours; figs, pear syrup. Full-bodied, bit sticky, meaty ('bouillon'). Faint malt bitterness in the aftertaste, but the main stamp remains full sweetness. Aged, it's nice. The agressive roasted bitterness of the young beer is gone, and it's more true to the given style. My bottle says 8.8%ABV, however.

caesar (7332) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2003
Clear brown color, large head. Aroma is roasted malty, some licorice, biscuit, and a typical X-mas alcohol smell. Taste is very sweet roasted malts, belly warming palate.

TBone (18347) - Pori, FINLAND - DEC 28, 2004
Bottled, alc. 8,8 % (BB 05/2005)

Ruby brown color, nice brownish head. and lots of lace. Fruity aroma with raisins and plums, even a bit roasted. Starts with attacking hops then full to medium body gives plum sweetness. Then finishes with alcoholic kick. Aftertaste is warming and slightly bittersweet. Interesting and complex but a bit unbalanced.
