33cl bottle. pours a dark ruby color with a medium off-white head. The foam is medium lasting and not very good lacing. Aroma is predominantly sweet: heavily malty with molasses and toasted sweetness. Vinous alcohol and fruits in my nose too. Flavor is strong and sufficiently complex: mostly sweet and alcoholic at the beginning turning to bitterness in the end. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Overall, a gorgeous beer.

Another bottle I brought back from my October trip to Belgium. It’s dark brown in the glass with auburn highlights and topped by a frothy tan head. A malty nose, sweet spices and a faint smokiness. Rich, raisiny fruitiness blended in with sweet spices, clove and cinnamon perhaps. More dark fruit lurking below and an understated earthy smokiness or toastiness in the body. There’s a faint metallic quality in the finish and the fruitiness leaves a stickiness in the mouth. The earthy roastiness lingers in the aftertaste. It’s 8.8% ABV but you’d never know it. Very smooth and complex at the same time. Nice ale.

drpimento (3714) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 6, 2011
Pretty good beer. Had it served in a thistle glass with large, foamy, frothy, light tan head that lasted and lots of lace. Color was a clear, dark cherry wood with deep red tones. Aroma was roasty, toffee, caramel malt. Flavor was similar to nose. Great phenols. Body was a tad thin and had high carbonation. Finish was similar to taste, long, and boozy.

Dogbrick (13398) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 3, 2011
Bottle at Le Poechenellekelder in Brussels. The beer pours a dark mahogany color with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and spices. Rich body with a spicy fruity character and notes of figs, chocolate and sweet spices throughout. The finish is ripe fruits and sweet malts. Pretty good from start to finish.

jaghana (6168) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - JAN 26, 2012
Bottle 33cl, a clear brown beer with mow head. Nose is vinous and oude bruin like. Aroma is very sweet with smoked and dark notes, very nice caramel and dark malt notes, intense barley sugar notes, slightly smoked, cola notes, roasted notes, red fruits and dry fruit notes. A very creamy and smooth beer with roasted finish, excellent !

Kosmokrator (849) - ITALY - MAR 29, 2012

tseo (153) - Athens, GREECE - JUN 3, 2012
Aroma: fruity, almost like strawberry and/or cherry jam, spicy (probably contains cinnamon). Also a hint of caramel. Mouthfeel: big and foamy. Taste: Strong, sour and sweet. I could notice a nutty tone, like hazelnuts and such. Turns to bitter as it goes down. Finish: Ends with a firm bitter note. Overall: not a refreshing beer. It’s a warming, very flavoursome drink though. Very satisfying.

Icedwarf (1727) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2014
Donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zoet en kruidig, caramel, chokolade, noten. Blijft lang hangen. Uitstekend bier, smaakt ook in de zomer.
