poured this into a glass and saw very dark brew with dark thick head. sweet caramel hoppy aroma. the taste was slightly hoppy with thick malty sweetness. i liked this beer alot. stefanberggren (135) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 13, 2004
on Tap- A nice dunkel, nothing over the top, but a really nice malt backbone. The hops are muted, as they should be, but seem to come through at the end. Very quaffable with food as it does not weigh you down. I am surprised that this is not rated slightly higher. I had the draught version and all was pleasing ! jgb9348 (6250) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 8, 2003
Dark brown coloured body with a soapy tan head. Aroma of malt, slight grapes, raisins and some metal. Medium to Light-bodied; Sweet flavour with some malt present, some caramel and a bit of some raisin sweetness. Very light and subdued aftertaste-almost nothing there! Overall, a sub-par beer and one that really should be overlooked! I bought this twelve ounce bottle (Best by 01.2005) at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 07.December.2003. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 2, 2003
(Bottle) Pours a dark brown with amber highlights and a medium beige head. Good rich flavor with hints of carmel and toffee. Jahills (151) - Cambridge (Hobart), AUSTRALIA - NOV 14, 2003
Yeah, this is a good simple dark. Liquorice present with a caramel toffee flavour. Finishes with just a little charred bitterness. Nice deep mouthfeel. Impressive.

I thought I had accidently opened one of my homebrews it was so damn like it. Looks like coke, little head(my homebrew is better!). Quite rich - with sweet coffee + caramel. A dry finish. cheers ogivlado (7810) - Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 11, 2003

Dark brown color. A little caramel flavor. Really it's boring. Thier nothing to complain about, but thier nothing to cheer about. Just average malt and hop flavors. Boring kwoeltje (2233) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - OCT 14, 2003
(draught at the Yard House in San Diego) deep, deep brown with small tan head. Rich malt aroma. Smooth, sweet malt flavor. I first had this over 20 years ago in Austria--it's as good as I remember it being. hotstuff (5158) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 29, 2003
A very drinkable and enjoyable beer to drink and rate as it was easy on the palate and it was not bitter tasting. It poured a small sized tan head with fine-medium sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a brown hue.The nose was lightly malty and caramel. The flavor was sweet and had a caramel flavor as well. The mouthfeel was smooth and light bodied. This beer left a fair amount of lacing on the sides of my glass.A pretty good beer!
