COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness. 11.8°

Good colour and aroma but thinnish and the only flavour is of 'dark' (I can't find the word), not much malt or hops. Low abv to compound the problem.

Bottle. Dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma is malty and bready. The flavor is a little sweet, creamy, malty, and smooth.

Coke-like brown color. Didn't show a great head in my glass, just a small beige layer... Rather subtle caramel and roasted malt aroma. Sweet, warm malt taste, leading to some dry bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, not bad, not too exciting either.

Dark brown color. A little caramel flavor. Really it's boring. Thier nothing to complain about, but thier nothing to cheer about. Just average malt and hop flavors. Boring

Hoppy and mocha nose. Cola coloured and perfectly clear with a tiny head. Sweet mocha and malty flavours that get become quite dry in the aftertaste.

Solidly dark brown color with a fizzy tan head, this has a sweet malt aroma. It’s got a creamy mouthfeel, and the taste is of roasted caramel malts and a dash of dark fruits. Bit of a bitter aftertaste, but not offensive.

dreamboat (186) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2005
Dark brown with big red highlights. Small but tight, light brown head. Sweet amlty aroma with some mustiness and hop present. Musty flavour also, with a very dry, roast malt, bitter finish. A bit average really.

Bottled (BB 01/2006)
Dark ruby, creamy tanned head, lace. Roasted, slightly caramelly and skunked hoppy aroma. Roasted, oaky malts. Toffee flavors with grassy hops. Oily, slightly bitter aftertaste. Quite sweet for a dunkel, maybe more vienna-like.

Bottle at Global, Ljubljana. Less impressive than the Lasko Temno. This is pretty light and fizzy, with a big gulp of caramel sweetness. Drinkable, but needed more strength of flavour.

tomer (3845) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - JUL 24, 2007
0.5L bottle. Almost no aroma at all, some faint hoppiness, dark brown colour, strong and dominating flavours of roasted coffee. smmoth and easy to drink but unimpressive.
