Carb seemed a touch high for the style. Otherwise a nice clean drinkable black lager with solid roasty flavors. Would drink again but maybe not at Japanese prices, CBM notwithstanding. biirusaikou (2705) - - MAY 9, 2014
Roasted malt, nuts, smokey aroma. Light toffee soda, sour plum, bitter caramel, clean finish. The dark caramel character dominates, quite a drinkable and interesting.dark brew. KansaiBeerLvrs (5156) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 15, 2014
Can. Part of a set ordered fom the brewery on Rakuten. Served in a glass beer mug. It pours a dark cola brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is roasty dark malts, dark bitter chocolate, soy & has a certain savoury quality to it. Medium-light bodied with a roasty chocolate flavor. Easy to drink with no off-flavors. Another solid beer from Gotemba Kogen.

Draught. Darkest brown/black. Thin tan head. Not so much nose, but looks good- sleek and shiny. Good balance of creaminess and smoothness. Goes down a treat. Nice roasted flavours- some chocolate, malt and coffee. A good session black beer. jonno (2762) - JAPAN - SEP 10, 2012
Good body on this. Creamy, smooth with some chocolate and a hint of roast. Not a huge projection in flavours, though this seems to be the House MO.

Tap at the Gotemba beer kingdom festival. Black with creamy beige head. Aroma bit chocolate, bit soy sauce, creamy. Bit dark malt. Taste creamy bit savoury, little bit of chocolate. Quite nice. Touch of cream and roastiness. Not bad. KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 31, 2009
Draught at the brewery.
Shiny, glowing, black. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Strongly roasted, with good balance and enough sweetness. Smooth and creamy palate. Good stuff.

Black with a tan head. Chocolate, light roasted malts, vanilla in the aroma. Much the same in the flavor but a hint of soke added as well. Very smooth and easy to drink. One of the better Schwarzbier’s in Japan. TheJollyOne (230) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 28, 2009
Very dark but clear brown, tall tan head dissipates quickly, reflecting the thin palate that follows. Nose is roasted malt, chocolate and burnt sugar. Light charred opening, coffee, chocolate, and fig. Strengthens beautifully as it warms. Not overly rich, thin and simple on the palate. Refreshing and drinkable. A hint of that metallic quality that haunts these Japanese beer halls is present, but nowhere near as bad as Fujiyama. omhper (25145) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 24, 2009
Draught at the brewpub. Vey dark brown, small head. Richly chocolatey. Slim but well rounded. Nothing sticky here, juts smooth chocolate. Low bitterness.
