UPDATED: JUN 11, 2013 Bottle at Bambalyne. Typical low carbonation requires a vigorous pour to form a head, so to express the beer aromatically you must make it even flatter... another problem with the state of Lithuanian beer in my experiences. Hazed soft gold body with a thin white ring of a head, to disappear in under a minute and give the appearance of hazy apple juice (no visible carbonation from this point on). Gamey aroma and flavor throughout, yes it’s very "rustic" in that grain, pee and animal hair way that a hen house smells. Also quite raw and wort-like with abundant mashed / rotting fruit. Bready, worty orange juice and amber malt syrup flavor. Oxidized and papery even two months away from expiration. DMS / cabbage / boiled carrot / vegetable barley soup flavor. Medium body, high sweetness, low acidity and bitterness.

Smallish white head. Hazy yellow body. Oily nutty dried fruit aroma with dusty strawy grainy notes. Dry-sweet earthy dried fruit taste with mealy grainy dusty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish dusty oily nutty aftertaste with earthy dried fruit and honey notes. Long, lingering bitterish dusty strawy finish. Really nice, classical farmhouse ale. Quite complex, too. (0.5l bottle, from Bamb Alyne, Vilnius.)

In short: A perfect blend of farmhouse character, toasted hay and refreshing yeasty fruitiness. Superb session beer
How: Bottle 500ml, a few times, consumed fresh on location always the day of purchase. Also bottle I brought back home
The look: Slightly cloudy blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose has a nice countryside barnyard/henhouse-ish character along with a sun dried haystack and some nice fruity esters. Taste is really farmhouse, a whole lot of sun dried toasted hay, fruity notes of bananas and citrus fruits, a very light tartness. Carbonation is a lot of soft bubbles and provide a comfortable pillowy mouthfeel. I had a wheat sensation in the overall beer although I don’t know if the beer actually uses wheat. This beer has the Lithuanian farmhouse beer signature (typical farmhouse character and toasted hay) but also adds a layer of yeastiness and refreshing fruitiness. This yeasty fruitiness makes this beer less representative of a true Lithuanian farmhouse beer, but to me it made it more complete, more complex. A great thirst beer, my favourite Lithuanian beer. I can’t believe the bad ratings on this beer. Let all the people who gave this beer a bad rating burn in hell if I lie, this is a fantastic beer and I just drank one after playing my weekly bowling game with the Yeti.

Bouteille de 500 ml achetée chez Gramuté (Vilnius, Lituanie). Arôme: Légère odeur de céréales grillées. Apparence: La couleur est blonde orangée. Présence d’un mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de céréales grillées avec une pointe d’houblons. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement huileuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence de céréales en arrière goût. (Rating #4189)

Bouteille de 500 ml. Arômes assez discrets de malt toasté. Légère présence de houblon floral. Robe blonde et trouble, faible mousse malgré une effervescence active et piquante. En bouche, la caractère malté typique de la Lithuanie est présent (noix, pain grillé), mais demeure discret par rapport à d’autres exemples. Finale sèche montrant une délicate amertume de houblon floral. Très facile à boire et agréable.

Modest haystacks and barnyard character join toasted malts and spicy hop bitterness in this superb, dry Lithuanian Šviesus.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam sits atop the hazy golden blond.
-The mouthfeel is fuller, creamier, than most bottled Lithuanian quenchers, mostly due to higher levels of carbonation.
-This is highly drinkable (perhaps not as Joalda’s Lengvas, though).
-Wooden notes also seep from the hop character.
-There’s definitely a touch of that Lithuanian toasted malt signature in there, but not nearly as strong as in Davra’s Daujotu’s, for example.

Dusty, chalky, slightly light-berry sourness too, a little herby and saisony, a touch of wax too. There’s a lot going on in the aroma. Hazy pale orange, huge tight creamy head. A touch vegetal in the retronasals. Sharp palate, a touch acidic, but also some gentle bitter bite. Almondy light grains, and dusty hops in the taste. Nice bitter hoppy finish, a gently tingle lasts for a while, and te almondy aromatic components last just as long. As it warms, it becomes more perfumey.

Aroma is sweet and creamy with a lot of malt and bread. The taste feels a bit flat and old. Mostly malty sweet flavours in the taste as well. Not really an interesting beer.

Unfiltered and slightly soured lager, bready flavors with mild to moderate sweetness and moderate sourness. Softer version of some more sour beers. Loads of fresh baked white bread in the flavor. Aroma of fresh field grass and soured wet hay.
