Unser Meistgetrunkenes!

Tap at Franconian Bierfest in Nürnberg, June 2013 and later from a fresh bottle: Polished yellow. Tight, creamy white foam. Pleasant aromas of lemon verbena, flower petals, new-mown hay, pepper, fresh-cut melon, grass, minerals, and a hint of vanilla cake maltiness. Fine-bubbled carbonation. Luscious hop surge accompanies an herbaceous vivacity with a juicy lemony sophistication and solid dose of stiff, palate-scrubbing minerals. Pils malt is notably cleanly extracted and exhibits an abundance of pillowy textures along with a vividly defined vanilla cake fullness that mimics a heller-bocklike richness. Lean, well-attenuated body provides an ideal platform for the starchy, mouth-filling textures that the pils malt continually generates. Beneath the plentiful softness is the toasty grip of fresh baguette. Dry and clean finish is augmented by a firm mineralic clasp and subtle nectar along with a Spalter-derived lemon candy sweetness. Yum. The brewer has extracted a tremendous amount of depth from the grain, which pairs so beautifully with the clean body. I was picking up some metal, celery, and and soap in the nose, but they were super faint and thus forgivable. As with their pils, this is easy to like.
