aronvarga (452) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 5, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2013 Draught @ Osterbrau. Cloudy, dark red brown colour, light brown head, roasty aroma, medium body, light fizziness, sweet malty taste, bitter aftertaste (from the roasted grains). Decent dark lager.

3fourths (9377) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2012
strange butter, tire rubber, burnt olive oil, used motor oil and black tar gravy flavor, and none of these descriptors are an exaggeration. ugh. horrible. medium body, chewy but rough and salty, especially late. horrible rubber and motor oil flavor. uuuuuuugh. rotting garbage disposal smell. how about twos across the board? why not, just for the fuck of it? this thing cost me 300huf. god damnit.

Koelschtrinker (22488) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 18, 2011
Malziger, leider wässriger Antrunk. Laff, auch das Schokoladenmalz entäuscht. Wenig herb. 12/6/7/6//6

rosenbergh (12021) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 13, 2011
Draught at Osterbräu, Budapest, Hungary.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with average to big light tan head. Very mild dry hops and grainy malt in dry aroma. Diacetyl (a lot), dry grainy malt and mild dry hops in flavour. Diacetyl sweetness in otherwise dry brew. Dry aftertaste.

inbirraveritas (1627) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 27, 2011
Draught at „Osterbrau Söröző”, Bp. Clear and dark brown pour with a medium ized, creamy beige head, which remain filmy. Sweet-sourish, roasty nose. Medium to thin mouthfeeled, sweet-sourish tasted aroma with caramel, roasted malt and light grass. The finish is sweet-roasty, aftertaste’s the same. Pleasant one.

lord_totenkopf (314) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 9, 2011
Dark brown beer with medium tan head. Roasty malt aroma with some coffee and nuts fragrances hidden in it. Light bitterness but the taste isn’t remarkable. Average carbonation and light body.

mattphilips (801) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 9, 2011

Marko (6381) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 2, 2010
Draught at the Osterbräu bar, Tölgyfa u., Budapest. Poured a very dark red-black body with a small head. Light caramel nose. Light coffeish taste, some dogfood. Drinkable but as schwarzbiers go, hardly a stunner.

ogivlado (8420) - Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 16, 2009
Draught at the Osterbräu bar, Budapest.
Brown coloured, small to medium beige head, touch of dark fruits in the nose. Extremely weak roasted malt and caramel taste with few chocolate hints. Also quite watery.

MartinT (10239) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 9, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Harsh roastiness turns into ashes atop the caramel sweetness, while estranged fruit confuse this Schwarzbier further.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A steady sheet of foam garnishes the clear dark brown.
-The ash-like flavors are also akin to dead wood, or garbage, as Per says.
-Carbonation is frothy and seems to enhance the quirkiness of the flavors.
-This tastes like a combination of a bad recipe and some brewing issues.

On tap at the Osterbrau pub on Tölgyfa in Budapest.
