COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition. This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus Classic. The 75cl bottles are closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a refreshing taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.
Was 8% abv in 2000-2002, 10% in 2003 and 11% in 2004.

750ml corked brown bottle from Goldorak. 2006 edition, 11% abv. Pours deep red brown colour, fairly clear, tan head recedes quickly leaving a light swirls of tiny bubbles on the surface. The aroma is strongly malty, sweet with raisin, cherry and caramel notes. Carbonation is fine and prickly, body is viscous, clings to glass. Flavour sticks to the tounge, malt forward, caramel and brown sugary malt, with some raisins. Finish starts a little sweet with some fruity notes, then shows some lsigns of alcohol mid tounge then a little yeasty dryness. Great drinkability for a beer of this strength. Rating #700

Pours medium brown with a thick, creamy head. Aroma of dark candy syrup, plums, raisins. Sweet, minimal hops. Alcohol is well hidden, just Belgian deliciousness.

750ml bottle (vintage 2008). Deludente, andava bevuta prima.

Bottle 750 ml, Bucharest at Bistro GUXT. This is definitely one of the best dark strong beer I ever tasted. Dark amber color eith almost no head. Aroma is senzational with lots of dark fruits (raisins, dried plums, figs and dates), caramel, molasses, dark bread, toffee, some hints of chocolate, sweet wine and vanilla. Taste is really complexe, with sweet and dark fruits hints, moderate bitterness, perfectly integrated alcohol. In my opinion this beer is almost perfect, maybe a little too sweet to really reach perfection, but still very close. Really excellent!

Bottle 0.75L, labelled 2016. Hazy brown body with small frothy, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some nice lacing. Moderate-to-heavy malty (roasted, caramel) aroma with notes of red fruits, plums, raisins, wood, and some coffee and licorice. Moderate-to-heavy sweet and light-to-moderate bitter flavour with a long-lasting sweet/vinous finish. Medium-to-full body with creamy texture; soft carbonation. Maybe a bit young, but a nicely complex beer.
