COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition.

This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus Classic.

The 75cl bottles are closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a refreshing taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.

Was 8% abv in 2000-2002, 10% in 2003 and 11% in 2004.

Top 3 beer for me, I especially loved the one I had that I let age for half a year, can’t wait to have my next one in a couple of years! Belgian Strong Ale that is dominated by the warm alcohol feel and a complex mix of yeast, malt, caramel, and dark fruits. My second bottle was heavy in prune, plum and dates in its flavour, with a caramel and warm aroma. A sipper to be sure, but one that never feels overbearing. Those who prefer their beers a little less sweet might not like this beer as much as I do, but this remains one of my favourites.

2016 vintage bottle shared at tasting. Clear dark red to brown colour, quite large tan head with good duration and lacing. Aroma of dried fruits, raisins, plums, figs, light bubblegum. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter, of raisins, dried fruits, apples, plums, red fruits, with notes of molasses, bubblegum. Medium to full body, oily, smooth texture, soft to average carbonation. Very good, complex and tasty quad.

750ml bottle (thx, Alex M.!) shared with George on Greenpoint campground. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is brown sugar and dark fruits. Taste is very sweet and fruity. Despite it is too sweet, it is a good sipper and dessert beer.

On tap. Pours a clear dark brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel and booze. Sweet flavour of plums, raisins, chocolate, caramel and light roast with a warming booze finish. Full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Excellent, lots of complexity.

2016 bottle. Raisins. Lots of raisins. Caramel, toffee, banana, booze. Like a lighter version of westy or a similar quad. Not a Belgian strong fan but this was enjoyable.

I have always appreciated really good Belgian beers, but this one takes the cake! The carmel finish and incredible balance make this one of the best beers I have ever tasted. If you love Belgian strong ale, then this is a MUST! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Vintage 2001 Cuvee keiser blue at Delirium. Black with a chocolate brown head. Aroma of dusty chocolate malt, slight vinegar. Very mellow taste with flavour of dusty malt, slight sweet chocolate, alcohol coming out of the throat rather than coming in. Oak, dry red wine tones, Ends with slight coffee bean bitterness and a mellowed alcohol taste along with some peachy undertones. 3,6/5 Bottle Vintage 2013 4,5/5

W aromacie figi, rodzynki, kandyzowane owoce, trochę estrów, przyjemnie i intensywnie. W wyglądzie czarne z ładną białą pianą. W smaku znów rodzynki, figi, melasa, bardzo słodkie. Ciało dość ciężkie, degustacyjne. Ogólnie przyjemny quadrupel, choć zdecydowanie idący w stronę słodyczy.
