COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition.

This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus Classic.

The 75cl bottles are closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a refreshing taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.

Was 8% abv in 2000-2002, 10% in 2003 and 11% in 2004.

Pours a darkish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smoky dark fruit. Also has a strong hint of spice.

backlog, Bardzo fajny aromat ciemnych, suszonych owoców, lekko syropowy. W smaku dość słodki, aczkolwiek bardzo przyjemny. Finisz bogaty, bardzo fajny.

2011er bottle from my cellar. The beer starts intense and extreme deep. Sweetish but not too sweet, lots of dried fruits - cherries, plums, raisins. Lots of malty caramel, smooth and mild. Great depth with not too much bitterness, very nice balanced.

On tap at Pizzeria Uno in Hamilton, NJ. Mahogany red color topped by a small creamy beige head. Dark fruit malty aroma hints at brandy and currants. Big malt flavor upfront. Notes of burnt caramel, dark dried fruits, plums and apple brandy. Smooth mouth feel for such an intense brew. Big boozy notes as well. Quite an amazing ale!

Bottle, Bier Tempel in Brussels. Deep reddish brown colour, white foam. Quite high carbonation still, despite being a couple of years old. Heavier than say Westie 12, syrupy fruit flavours, but still a nice a slightly drying finish. Touch of spice. Seriously nice beer.

Bottle from Belgisk Bryg in Copenhagen - thanks Jan! A very special beer from the 2015 vintage in a beautiful 75cl bottle with a cork. Wonderful aroma of dried fruits and port. The taste is brown sugar with lots of plum, dried fruit, port and brandy flavours. A really delicious, rich and multi-faceted beer.

Beautifully balanced, dense fruit heavy with plums. Light bitterness and no overly dominant malt. This is a quite fabulous beer.
