700mL bottle from Sherbrooke Pours a deep dark brown with an average tan head that fades fairly quickly. Medium carbonation. Aroma is a complexity of spiciness, roast malt, and a slight yeasty whiff. Taste is perfectly smooth, a subtle mix of numerous flavours (black currant, plum fruitiness, strong sweet malt/chocolate/alcohol character, hint of yeast), that are extremely well balanced. Magnificent. Jdotjdot89 (1) - - JUL 16, 2013 does not count
This beer, though unsuspecting at first, upon encountering the aftertaste turns out to be incredible. I’d describe it as a dark ale with an aftertaste of the best Jolly Rancher you’ll ever have. Seabass1964 (28) - Paragould, Arkansas, USA - JAN 5, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2014 Sipped from a nice stemmed chalice glass from Gouden Carolus at 60 degrees. This beer definitely improved as it warmed to room temperature. 2011 addition, so nicely aged. Initially smells of alcohol with a hint of red wine. Taste of dark grape, cherry, raisins, figs some alcohol burn and carbonation on the finish . Very sweet like a fine wine or a heavenly dessert. Best beer I?ve had yet. Have not tried a fresh batch yet so cannot speak for that. JEprado1 (12) - - JUL 27, 2014

12 oz 2013 bottle.
Smell is huge. Dates. Plums. Sugary. Wine. Dry. Boozy. Rum. Roots
Looks fine. Dark brown. Tan head.
Wow powwow that is intense! Flavors like the smell. Super complex. Smooth. Sweet dried fruits fade to more yeasty earthy notes with no harshness.
Palate is smooth. Carbonation compliments and holds a good mouthfeel that fades to dry with amazing flavors lingering.
Well guys..... 277 beers in (plus 200 more from another certain site I was banned from) and it’s finally happened. The perfect beer. I always imagined it would be from founders but this is it. Amazing flavors, perfect on the palate and pleasing to the nose. An absolute must. kolymaTram (17) - brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 2, 2014

Very good beer. Way better than expected. Everyone must try this beer. The beer has a a slicht nutty flavor, with a light hint of caramel. The beer has a dark, almost black colour. The beer has a frothy layer of foam. The beer has a medium sweetness, is lightly bitter, with a full body. It is a nice creamy beer with a long finish. Teran (332) - Belgrade, SERBIA - FEB 16, 2015
