Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Rood is a strong blond beer that was launched in 2008 on the occasion of "10 years Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Blauw". However, it contains more types of malt and 3 different kinds of herbs are added during the brewing process.

Its bright golden color, high alcohol percentage and full and well-balanced taste make this ale a genuine source of vitality and power which will please even the most critical connoisseur.

For ideal savoring, gently pour out in one fluent movement, at a temperature of 7-8° C (45-46°F). Proudly poured it is savored with respect. Those who like a refreshing, heavy and somewhat spicy beer, choose this blonde ale.

Dark golden to light orange, almost clear. About one finger of head, ok retention and not much lacing. A quite strong aroma: yeast, fruit (expecially pear and peach, on the verge of candied fruit) and some spiciness. Taste shows a sweetish malts base (biscuity and slight honey), with candied fruit as per smell, some sugar and a bit of alcohol warmth. Overall definitely sweet with enough balance in a finish that shows a light herbal note. Dense in body with average carbonation, surely mouthfilling. A dense slow sipper, well made and nicely warming, though maybe not as complex as you may look for in such a dense beer.

Stor fylde i øllet, og mange frugtagtige noter. En øl der skal nydes foran pejsen...eller husalteret.

25.4-ounce caged and corked bottle pours cloudy orange-gold with thick creamy white head that quickly settles, leaving behind lots of clingy lacing. Aroma: honey, lemon, white pepper, coriander, some barnyard -- all subdued. Flavor: honey, caramel, licorice, white pepper, black pepper, yeasty bread, allspice, apricots, jack fruit, barnyard; complex flavor profile, layers and layers of flavor. Mouthfeel: light- to medium-bodied, some booziness at the finish. Drinks WAY lighter than its 10 percent ABV.

Appearance: Pours hazy yellow to golden with creamy white head, with decent lacing. 4/5 Aroma: Distinct smell of pepper, anise and herbs, with citrus fruits, malt, hops and yeast notes. 7/10 Taste: Moderate hops, citrus fruits, sweet malt and caramel, with spice and yeast. Quite sweet, moderate bitter, alcohol only shown as slight burning when swallowing. Warming fruity spicy herbral alcoholic finish, lingering. 7/10 Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied, creamy and smooth, soft carbonated. 5/5 Overall: Heavy sweet do balance the strong alcohol and herbral bitterness, on the other hand made it a bit cloying inevitablely. The herbs added furthered the complexity. 12/20

From notes. 750 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 on January 01. 2015 vintage. The pour is a nice darker amber color with a lighter tan head, and a good bit of sediment floating throughout. The aroma is interesting. There is a strong tropical fruitiness and a floral yeast up front with a bit of bubblegum and a heavy spicy clove. This is coming off like a tripel, and I’m less than excited. The flavor is a little better. The floral yeastiness and tropical fruitiness come through nicely and the clove fades a little. The caramel and a light spiciness finish off. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a crisper carbonation and a lingeringly floral and fruity finish. This is an interesting one. 6 4 7 4 14

From the LCBO, 'Jaargang 2017', closest description to my drink. Selected this one for my 500th, quite the personal milestone. Looking forward to more great beers.

Pours near clear golden with a moderate white head and good lacing. Nose is slightly tart fruits, coriander, a little alcohol and just a touch of european hops. Flavor pushes from dry to a burst of well accented Belgian malts and light spices, all of it very well balanced and tasty. Finish is sweet and sticky. Very good and drinkable.

2015 vintage. Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is tropical fruit, floral, yeast, booze, caramel, bubblegum, nice. Appearance is amber, light tan head, unfiltered. Taste is floral, caramel, yeast, tropical fruit, some spice, ester, dry. Mouthfeel is medium body, light crisp carbonation, super floral sweet tropical fruit spice aftertaste. Overall, the blauw is better but this is still good.

Pours slightly hazy gold with a decent white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is malt and apples. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with a dry finish. There are notes of malt, vanilla, apples, and coriander. Light-medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. It’s a good beer with no hint of alcohol and delicate flavours.
