Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Rood is a strong blond beer that was launched in 2008 on the occasion of "10 years Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Blauw". However, it contains more types of malt and 3 different kinds of herbs are added during the brewing process. Its bright golden color, high alcohol percentage and full and well-balanced taste make this ale a genuine source of vitality and power which will please even the most critical connoisseur. For ideal savoring, gently pour out in one fluent movement, at a temperature of 7-8° C (45-46°F). Proudly poured it is savored with respect. Those who like a refreshing, heavy and somewhat spicy beer, choose this blonde ale.

2009 Bottle pours cloudy gold with foamy white head. Aromas of bread, orange, clover, fruity esters, floral, pepper. Moderately bitter and sweet. Body is smooth with a hint of acidity. The fruity esters really distinguishes this from other beers of the same style. This is the apogee of a belgian triple. Not sure what it tastes like fresh, but they nailed it when this stuff is aged for a few years.

2015 edition. Pale slightly cloudy yellow with lots of carbonation and long lasting head. A little funk, spicy hops on the nose. Fruity bubblegum yeast quite sweet all around, light and some sweet honey booze. Pretty cool but quite boozy.

Why you gotta be so Rood? Bottle from Cork 57 in Bethesda, jaargang 2014. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a large, lasting white head. The aroma is great, quite complex. Yeasty with honey, sugar, spice (clove, coriander), fruity banana/pear/apple esters, herbal notes. Sweet sugar/candy malt base, quite yeast and fruity with a touch of bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus body, some slight body heat, lively carbonation. Very good beer. Can’t believe I hadn’t ticked this until now, but guess what. Now I’ve ticked it. How about them apples?

0.75 l bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Appearance is yellow or very pale with a great head and bubbles. Aroma is like a chewing gum with a fruit flavour. Taste may have that too, but it is lurking behind a very spicy flavour. Label does not state the spice used, but in my mouth it felt like cinnamon and cardamon. Oh, it’s Christmas again. Actually, this could be great as a Christmas beer - not with food but before that as an appetizer.

Draft at BitterCreek. Ale Holden with soft wispy head, streaky lacing. Straight forward malty aroma, taste turns sweet, butter, toffee, butterscotch. Slick and smooth. No sign of the 10% ABV

LOL well, that was a surprise. 2012 bottle. I didn’t realize there was another Van De Keizer beer and when it poured a slightly hazy golden amber color (instead of near black) with a moderate sized tan head (nice lace and retention) I knew something was, well, different. Yeasty aroma with notes of lighter fruit, lightly herbal, light alcohol. Medium to full body, fairly delicate for the punch it’s packing.

Pours a hazy gold from the bomber with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of big Belgian yeast esters, light fruity tripel notes. Taste follows, hint of banana and funk, slight booze. Booze is hidden well, smooth and crisp, very nice.

Snäll beska i avslutningen. Förvånansvärt "saftig" och fruktig. Stor sötma.

Pale blond with bright, white head. Aroma and flavour have sweet fruits like banana and peach. Quite like candied dried fruit. The high alcohol gives a balance of dryness.
