COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers.

Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm).

5 types of hops are used in this beer. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma.

Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Tap, Cheeky Monk in Denver. Straw gold with a little chill haze, lots of dense white head. Bright under-ripe fruit esters: green bananas, green plums. Black pepper and cardamom, hay. Brisk earthy bitterness, dazzling green pit fruit, just at that interesting razor edge between tartness and sweet. A little peppery alcohol note in the finish.

Gigantic white head that filled the whole glass upon initial pour. Whipped cream like consistency. Light golden color with an opaque wit beer like quality. Aroma floral hops and champagne. Flavors are also floral and fruity, some banana, cloves, wax and orange peel. Head is bitter and the body is a bit sweeter. Palate is medium thick and slightly dry on the finish. A hoppy saison like beer. Nice.

Bov (12556) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 4, 2009
courtesy of Laurent Mousson (WBA) - cloudy blond colour with a solid white foam leaving a nice lace on the side of the glass; estery with notes of pear and spices; far too much carbonated, heavy sweetness behind which lasts in a short fruity and sticky finish - medicinal and very dubious

Bottle @ the soon to be renamed Abbot on the Hill. Aroma of floral hops, citrus, malt and yeast, hazy yellow, small firm white head, leaves some pretty lace, Flavour is a fine malt, tasty lemon and a little yeast. Light bodied, very well balanced, quite refreshing considering the abv. Terrific!

Corked and caged 750 pours a hazed yellow gold body with an enormous vanilla head. Sticky clump lacing is left after the pillowy head falls to a meringue. Aroma is herbal and grassy hops. Velvety carbonation softens the medium body. Dry and bitter herbal hops driven taste. Soft caramel backbone. Nicely done Belgian IPA.

Pours golden and slightly hazy with a well maintained foamy beige head. Dominated by herbal hops and fruity esters, notes of banana, bubble gum, pear, and candy. Mouthfeel is full bodied with lush carbonation. Very tasty and elegant.

Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet. Strgul farge. Kraftig kremaktig skum som varer lenge. Uklart. Fruktig og krydret aroma. Smaken er fyldig og dominert av krydder. Litt skarp. Trr fruktig bitter ettersmak. Alkoholen er godt skjult.

Pours a golden honey like blonde, big pure white soapy head. Aroma is lots of fruity hops, yeast and a sugary sweetness. Taste is hoppy peppery bitter, some sweetness and a hint of yeast. finishes with a crisp herbal bitterness. Similar in many respects to an IPA with some Belgian sweetness and well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable, but perhaps lacking in other flavours, I prefer Carolus other beers.

hopscotch (11014) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 16, 2009
Bottle Hazy yellow ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Soapy, spicy, herbal nose. Full-bodied and creamy with lackadaisical carbonation. Medium pale grain sweetness and moderate, spicy, European hop bitterness - a rumor of acidity. Sweet, lightly bitter finish.
