COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers.

Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm).

5 types of hops are used in this beer. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma.

Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Bottle. Huge lovely white head. Very unclear dark yellow body. Fresh sourish aroma, some yeast and fruits too. Quite strong. Strong flavour, of alcohol. Some yeast and bitter hops. Not very exciting flavour, not like the aroma. (At home, 27.04.09)

[email protected], Providence. RI Pretty decent hoppy, belgian blonde. Floral and yeasty. Alcohol is noticeable, yet soft. Some estery yeast characters.

(bottle). Super carbonated and thick, thick head. In spite of the claim of hopiness, I didn’t find this to be hoppy. For a Belgian beer there is certainly a hoppy finish, but I don’t drink Belgian beers for hops. If I want hops, I’ll go with Racer 5 or some other American Brew. It’s not a bad beer, but it’s not great either.

Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Yellow with a creamy white head. Sweet malty and apple aroma and taste with a tart citrus finish.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2009 Had this with Dad on Father’s Day. Beer pours coor of wet sand with a white fluffy head. Took several minutes to cram this bottle into 2 Unibroue chalices. Lots of chunky yeasties from the end of the pour. Mild flavored candied apples with a lot of hop presence - flavors of saaz and also some Belgian and German hops also hanging around. Lots of bitterness resulting and my dad loved it. Nice character in the complex hop profile.

Thanks to rustychiles for the bottle. What he said. Plus... 0 Aroma....Pils and candi malt sweetness. Taste - the Belgians need to learn what flavor and aroma additions of hops are.

Beer head on viagra and coke........one hell of a head. aroma is yeasts hops, spices and citrus. Flavor is coriander hops malt yeast. Prickly carbonation but a bit thin on taste. Doppelganger (1388) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - JUN 18, 2009
Tap, Cheeky Monk in Denver. Straw gold with a little chill haze, lots of dense white head. Bright under-ripe fruit esters: green bananas, green plums. Black pepper and cardamom, hay. Brisk earthy bitterness, dazzling green pit fruit, just at that interesting razor edge between tartness and sweet. A little peppery alcohol note in the finish.

3.8
marchcow (664) - Coralville, Iowa, USA - JUN 7, 2009
Gigantic white head that filled the whole glass upon initial pour. Whipped cream like consistency. Light golden color with an opaque wit beer like quality. Aroma floral hops and champagne. Flavors are also floral and fruity, some banana, cloves, wax and orange peel. Head is bitter and the body is a bit sweeter. Palate is medium thick and slightly dry on the finish. A hoppy saison like beer. Nice.
