In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It’s refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Poured a cloudy yellow with a huuuge white, rocky yet smooth head. All the triple aromas are there (coriander, citrus). Alcohol on your throat going down. Comfort beer.

Bottle. Appearance is clre golden with nice white head. Aroma and taste is yeast, citrus, bread and floral. Some alcohol is present in the taste also.

Shared at a get together at ebone1988’s house with Matt and Jennifer on July 08. 330 mL bottle. The pour is a darker cloudy golden color with a large off white head and a good bit of soapy lacing as it falls down. The aroma carries a strong floral fruitiness right up front. There is a ton of banana on this, but there is nothing spicy or clove heavy about it. It’s amazing. The sweetness is great, and I just love the lack of clove. The flavor is much of the same. The heavy banana and fruitiness jump righto ut of the gate with a nice sweet floral addition to it. It’s sweet, a little delicate, but complex, and lacking clove. The mouth feel is decently medium bodied with a softer carbonation and a lingeringly floral banana and tropical fruitiness on the back end. Not too bad at all! 8 4 8 4 16

One of the old well-known Belgian tripels, already known for decades. Long time ago, since I drank it. Bottle pours hazy light-golden, with firm white head, that quickly falls down. Aroma is nice and sweet, ripe fruits, banana, vanilla; light malty also. Taste is rather sweet, with no particular development. This is a better one among the general Belgian tripels; well balanced, and although not special/surprising attractive.

I came to Brussels thinking I didn’t like tripels. I had always thought they were too high alcohol, too boozy and often too sweet in order to balance out the booze. This beer almost single-handedly proved me so wrong. Absolute perfection as far as taste is concerned.

Golden coloured ale with a creamy white head. Aroma: sweet malts, fruity and spicy. Taste: sweet, fruity, spicy, malt, some peach and some bitterness. Really nice Tripel.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is fruity, floral, potpourri, sweet, spice, very nice. Appearance is darker golden, fluffy off white head, hazy. Taste is excellent. Fruity, floral, spices, dry, dusty, barnyard, woody, everything a good Tripel should be. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, floral dry and slight boozy aftertaste. Overall, this ranks right up there with Tripel Karmeliet. Excellent. 8 4 8 4 16 Update: over halfway through the beer, and this beer still has head retention. Very impressive stuff here.

Pours a hazy, muddled golden-peach colour, initially generating nearly two fingers of soapy, bright white foam at the surface. It steadily dissipates over the course of the next five minutes or so, leaving a creamy-looking collar and thin cap behind in its wake. A quick swirl manages to give the head new life, but only briefly; this is also the only way I seem to be able to get much in the way of lace. It might not win a tripel beauty contest, but the aroma is absolutely to die for. I'm getting a wallop of stone fruit on the nose, especially apricots and juicy peach, with distinct notes of lemon peel, orange zest and white grape. Subtle banana esters, clove phenols and candi sugar sweetness, with grassy hay and some spiciness. I love the taste of most tripels, and this one is not an exception to the rule. Grainy malts, candi sugar sweetness and banana are apparent right off the starting gun, though the stone fruit and citrus elements noted in the aroma are somewhat subdued here. Hints of apricot, apple skin, white grape and orange peel surface briefly, only to be overcome on the back end by this beer's assertive yeasty qualities - plus a little help from some grassy, spicy hops. Finishes spicy, with suggestions of clove, white pepper, and a light, bready malt sweetness. Not particularly dry, though the aftertaste does have an astringent tendency. Medium in body, with fiercely potent carbonation that prickles the surface of the palate and foams up in the mouth. I like a good, crisp bite from my tripels, but this bottle goes a little overboard. No biggie; it happens sometimes with these bottle-conditioned Belgians - it's still an exquisitely well-crafted beer that completely masks its strong alcohol content. Final Grade: 4.38, a brown-nosing A grade. I'm far from impartial when it comes to tripels - particularly when it comes to the ones which have been imported directly from Belgium. So it really shouldn't be surprising when I state that I highly recommend Gouden Carolus Tripel, or that I find it to be one of the finest examples of the style that I've had in recent memory. It's certainly not flawless - with the unnecessarily foamy mouthfeel being my main point of contention - but the fact remains that I'm still really enjoying my glass. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours minimal head that quickly goes away and just leaves a very thin coating. Has a slightly cloudy golden appearance. Aromas are pretty yeasty, breads, citrus hops and light roasted malts. Flavours are strong citrus hops, yeast, raisins, lemon and orange peel. A little bit of spices too. Has a yeasty tingling mouthfeel. A slight warming sensation. Full bodied. Really smooth and goes down pretty easy for a 9%abv beer.
