Delicious porter, easy to drink. Look, taste and smell good. Not too sensitive to temperature meaning bottle or cask is a similar enjoyable experience. johndoughty (5600) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2017
Bottle. Black with a small head. Lovely malty flavour with a medium body.Very smooth with a trace of chocolate and cream Impressive. theprof (1369) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 10, 2017
Tried at the Leicester Beer Festival. Aroma is caramel malts and treacle. Pours brown with ruby lights and a tan top. The taste has more bitterness than I expected but ultimately the roasted malts prevail. jamesie1857 (1986) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2017
500ml bottle from Brewer’s Stand at NEC Good Food Show - Deep ruby black body, off-white head. Nose and taste are standard roast and toast, coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Not too bad. wheresthepath (2424) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 27, 2016
Bottle from the brewer’s own stand at the Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC. Brown-black with a beige head and a light fizz. Roasty malt and chocolate in a rather light body. Pretty average.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Dark clouded brown with a small head. Has some very palatable dark and roasted malts in both aroma and taste. Scopey (16266) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 15, 2016
Cask gravity at Duke of Wellington, Norwich. It pours hazy near black with a bubbly beige head. The aroma is earthy roasted malts, liquorice allsorts, umami and malt loaf. The taste is smooth, toast, liquorice, light ash, mild astringency, dry wood with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A fairly ho hum porter. Drinks easy anyhow. Draught (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2016)Erasmus_ro (3235) - Alabama, USA - JAN 30, 2016
Black, small tight head. Very pleasant roasted aroma. Lovely soft palate, maybe a bit watery. Blackcurrant comes out in the nose. Alas just a hint of sourness in the taste, but it’s not off yet. At times a bit harsh and minerally. Finish beautifully roasty. Ups and downs, but I certainly warmed to it.
Cask @ RAF-16 @ Gallows Bird, Espoo, 29/01/16. Pours dark brown. Aroma is roasted and quite earthy. Taste is roasted, earthy, slight liquorice. Pretty good at this strength. Tastes and feels stronger than its ABV. jookos (7156) - FINLAND - JAN 29, 2016
Black. Dry rubber licorice. Malty, dark berries on nose. Light. Liclrice berry soupy. Some acidity.
