A very attractive amber colour with a thin but stable white head. Sweet and spicy with notes of caramel and nuts. Can hardly detect any alcohol in the mouth given the reasonably high abv. Bittersweet finish that is quite roasty and eventual alcohol warmth.
Draft at the Birch. A reddish-brown beer with no head whatsoever. The initial impression borders on the sour region, but ends up being somehow sugary yet not very sweet. Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap (sampler): Pours a light brownish color with a small head. Aroma is rather interesting, and for me, was difficult to pin down. There were definitely nuts, plenty of sugar, some unique yeast notes. It was like a Belgian Strong in some sense, but in others very cleary not. Some wood was also present. Taste is slightly sweet. Brown decent sized white head. Spicy, sweet aroma. Flavor is...odd.Sugary sweet, and a lot of cola, maybe? The Bride said it tasted like grape cough medicine, but I didn’t really get that. Maybe some apple, though. Odd brew.

This has a weird aroma, a little soapy. the flavor on this is strange. A bit of malt, maybe some nuts, but also with a character reminiscent of Christmas ales. The look: Clear copper body topped by a tiny beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted nuts, a bit of caramel and some phenols. Taste is like drinking caramelized roasted nuts. Very crunchy/husky maltiness sensation. There is also a spiciness sensation. Some wooden notes. Carbonation is a lot of small hard bubbles that made it hard to keep it the mouth, I think this beer could be really nice with softer bubbles. My last beer at Mondial 2012 festival, I had so much to drink during this week of Mondial+pubs festivities that when the week was over I thought that maybe not drinking beer for a few days could do me some good, but I guess we’ll never know.

0.75l swingtop courtesy of fiulijn, huge thanks Alex! Murky red-brown, big tan head that went away at a medium pace. Sweet, pungent malty nose, sweet apple, quite dusty.Nice sweet chestnutty and yoghurty malty taste, bit caramelly. A remarkably balanced beer, quite pleasant.
