faroeviking (11329) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - FEB 26, 2007
Bottle. Hazy amber. Sourish smoky aroma with some yeastiness. Flavour of caramel, some smokiness, toasty maltiness. Sweet malty finish.

drpimento (3814) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 25, 2010
Bottle was a gusher and lost about 40%. Poured with large (!) tan head and good lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is a slightly sour yeasty malty spicey and bitter belgian style. Flavor’s about the same. Decent body and carbonation (!) Slightly boozy at the end. Much better than the other Italian Chestnut beer I just had. But that’s not saying a lot.

kevd193213 (992) - Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 16, 2010
750 mL bottle. Cloudy brown pour with no head. Aroma of caramel malt and herbs. Flat taste of lemongrass, caramel and yeast with a lingering finish. Had potential, think the bottle may have been spoiled with zero head.

Braudog (6898) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUL 15, 2012
Draft at the Birch. A reddish-brown beer with no head whatsoever. The initial impression borders on the sour region, but ends up being somehow sugary yet not very sweet. With little to no carbonation it is easy to drink and non-filling. Mellow drinker. (#4694, 7/14/2012)

Draft @ brewpub. Hazy copper with long lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel. Sweet malt and caramel flavour. Sweet finish

75 cL bottle (sample). Pours reddish with huge white head. Sweet barly aroma with minor citric note. Strong oily, wineous mouthfeel. Taste is sweet malt. Alcohol stands out in feel and finish in a rather simple beer.

A Mes rate: bottle at GBBF.
A very attractive amber colour with a thin but stable white head. Sweet and spicy with notes of caramel and nuts. Can hardly detect any alcohol in the mouth given the reasonably high abv. Bittersweet finish that is quite roasty and eventual alcohol warmth.

tmoreau (4734) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - FEB 13, 2009
Stemware sampler at local beer seminar. Poured a cloudy, deep orange/amber color, with an off white, small-ring head, and minimal lacing. The aroma was nuts and hard wood. The flavor strayed from the aroma to expose some earthy, barnyard and hay notes. Unusual, to say the least, but somewhat in keepng with the SHV style.

More from Vegas and thanks to Khory’s for getting this in an hour before I arrived at the store!
What is with this Unibroue glass? Every time I pour a beer in it half the glass fills with foam! Hazy chestnut colour, huge tan bubbly head, ok dissipating ropy lacing. The aroma is nutty with some interesting herbal qualities, mild fruity candy, some odd perfume, caramel, hints of alcohol, something spicy like a gingerbread I think, I dunno. The taste is pretty interesting and what is odd is that the first thing I noticed is the chestnuts but not until mid to end of the sip. Touch of medicinal to it, sourness, lots of malts, some alcohol on the finish, something funky in no particular order cause I’m sauced. Finished with too much alcohol and I wish it was hidden more. Oily mouth feel. 8% hit hard today for some reason. I’ve pretty much forgotten about this beer already. Nothing special. Horribly overpriced. Save your money unless you are a review whore or share the cost with some one else. I’m going to go play some NHL07 and eat popcorn now
