Poors a beautiful golden/copper with a soft moderate white head. Strong hints of chocolate, caramel and chestnuts. Not too complex but very satisfying. Leaves a nice taste and te alcohol is just right.

Pours a cloudy dark amber, with a big, foamy, light brown head. Smells of dark caramel malt, chestnut, and a hint of soe funk as well. I really dug his flavor, thought it was quite interesting. Definitely got the big chestnut factor in it, as well as caramel malt, various other spices, and a hint of tartness, but not too much. Finished lightly sweet, with some candy sugar and caramel left on the tongue. i think this is an underrated brew, quite flavorful and interesting. Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with an off white head. Grape, and licorice flavor with a note of plum and a chewy nutty character. A hint spicy with toffee and grape. Really nice! corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2009
Pours a dark chestnut brown color with some dark amber chocolate brown hues when held to a light source with a thick 2 finger frothy tan head with good retention that slowly settles into a lasting cap. Sporadic spots of soapy lacing.
Spicy peppery aroma with some estery Belgian yeast notes that give off a lot of dark fruit. Hints of raisin, grape, plum and fig with a bit of nutty malt and alcohol.
Very quaffable medium body with lots of spice, dark fruit notes and smooth malt character. Hints of dark cherry, grape, plum, raisin and fig along with some peppery spice, chocolate malt and hazelnut. The sweetness of the dark fruit and the smooth maltiness are very well balanced and the ABV is very well masked without a trace of alcohol heat. Very complex and quaffable. panacea (94) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - SEP 21, 2014
Pours dark brown with white head. Nose is caramel, toffee and dark fruits reminiscent of a Belgian dubbel. Taste is balanced caramel, nuts and some slight hints of clove. Noticeable warming alcoholic finish but very fitting to the beer. Full body with medium carbonation. Very nice beer but the chestnut is not a prominent ingredient.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, katrinplommon, vita russin, farinsocker och brunt socker. Rund, len, stor sötma som dock inte ta över, jämna smaker, fruktig med lätt beska. Ett gott dessertöl. Leighton (22329) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2010
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 Bottle, once at a tasting and once at Swift. Pours a cloudy, light brown with a substantial white head. Nose is all spice and sweet malt. Flavor is dynamic and mostly sweet. Lots of honey and chestnut, along with some less discernable spices. Nice and pretty unique.
